His Prodigy co-founder Liam Hewlett said Flint had 'taken his own life'.
Famed for his devil-horns haircut and intense stage performances - the iconic 90s musician was performing just last month in New Zealand on a world tour set to run until May.
Hewlett, who founded the group with Flint in their hometown of Braintree, Essex, wrote: "The news is true. I can't believe I am saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend.
"I'm shell shocked, f****** angry, confused and heart broken r.i.p brother."
In an official statement, the group said: "It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint.
"A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. R.I.P

Buzzing on white doves, heard โyour loveโ for the first time and rushed to dance to it. One of my favourite tracks, never forget that moment.. a truly great band live saw them so many times. RIP Keith, keep on dancing fella..
