Kaws Art Basel 2018 Split, by bbperez1 on Mar 8, 2019 5:20:50 GMT 1, Hello forum, I have a set of Kaws recent release from art Basel. Set of 3 prints in hand. “Lost time” “far far gone” and “alone again” 32x53 in each. They are all signed and numbered. Ed. Of 100. I am willing to sell as a set or I can split the set up but I would need at least two buyer to split the set or one buyer interested in two prints. I’m taking offers on individual prints something fair for both of us. These are large enough and independent of one another that they can stand alone as a single. Please PM me or contact me on Instagram bbperez1

Kaws Art Basel 2018 Split, by kuni on Mar 8, 2019 18:00:45 GMT 1, What did these cost from Pace? 65-70k after tax and shipping great, thx for the reply. At that price, it would seem like you've really got to want that print on your wall to pay that kind of $$$. Not much room for flipping when it's $20k+ at primary...at least not in the near future. Good luck on the sale.

The price isn’t the problem. It’s shipping.

Good luck on the sale. The price isn’t the problem. It’s shipping. How can the shipping be the problem? Not a rhetorical question. I used to ship pallets LTL and it was under $500 to ship a 2000 pound pallet halfway across the US. It couldn't cost more than $500 to ship one of these, no? Even at $1000, what's another grand when you're buying a $25k print?

Kaws Art Basel 2018 Split, by avec art on Mar 8, 2019 19:54:12 GMT 1, They have to ship flat, so a crate is really needed. I don't think it's all that cheap to have a crate made, so it's not just the shipment. Also insurance is required.

I think thats where galleries win on selling pieces like this. The buyer needs to see it physically and fall for it.

The shipping is costly because they need to be shipped flat. Crated. And insured for their full value. Also, they’re huge. So basically 3x5ft with the crate. That’s an oversized package according to DHL. Most of the deals have come from JP, AU, EU and it has consistently been a shipping issue.
All of the quotes I’ve received have been around 2500-3k. I used the same shippers as paddle 8. Anyone who has purchased from me on this forum can attest to my shipping/packaging quality.

I agree with you. I wasn’t a huge fan until I saw them in person. Now, I am purposely foregoing offers for the set to split it.

I'm assuming that it's only incrementally more expensive to ship all 3 as it is to ship just 1?

If shipping from the US internationally use ips (not ups). A 3x5 ft crate should be well under $1k shipped WW and insured. Through them fedex 3-5 day would currently run $746 from NYC to London.

Thanks for the tip. I will check them out. I appreciate any info on saving on shipping because it’s getting out of hand with the insurance. After a certain amount a separate insurance needs to be purchased and that’s when it costs exponentially more.

The factor that makes the price skyrocket is the amount of insurance. Galleries and some business owners carry their own insurance so there’s no need for additional insurance but for the “average consumer” they don’t carry that type of insurance so it needs to be purchased through the shipping company. Kinda like an umbrella policy.
