Jigsaw puzzle, by guitarbeard on Apr 14, 2019 20:43:48 GMT 1, Hi
I have been doing a lot of my own framing of late, trying out different techniques, float, double mount and deep box frames. The tricky one that I am struggling with is a Pure Evil "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Bastards" 500 piece jigsaw puzzle. I want to frame it in a conservation/reversible way so adhesive backed board is out
Any suggestions or clues
thanks Jay

Jigsaw puzzle, by guitarbeard on Apr 14, 2019 22:39:45 GMT 1, thanks for this It looks like the image has been captured inside a mount, i have seen this done but to stop the puzzle from falling against the glass they have been stuck to pre-glued board which is something i want to avoid

Jigsaw puzzle, by .dappy on Apr 14, 2019 22:59:45 GMT 1, ... the pieces are within the white mount, as you say ... the pieces are 'stuck' together with spray mount glue along their edge ... that is they can come apart without damage ... the back is open and no rear mount at the back ... all with a clear back ... as there is a picture on the back of the piece as well ... held within the white mount ...
... the issue you have is the size of your piece ... GL

Could it be displayed in a UV perspex box that's tilted at an angle? Or maybe individually applying japanese paper and wheatpaste to 500 pieces and hinging

If its made of wood it might be enough to create a slope in a 5m deep frame with a stop in the foot to rest on. Ultimately with a passepartout to secure the edges.
Seem like they do something similar here but without a slope: m.jigthings.com/puzzle-frames/

The Jigthings frame relies on a perspex sheet stopping the jigsaw from falling forward which is something i want to avoid
