The Art Of Banksy Curated by Steve Lazarides, by jay4077 on May 6, 2019 7:18:20 GMT 1, Who cares if it's official or not? Do you think I should wait maybe another decade for an official exhibition to pop up, so I can with a good conscience watch some rare Banksy's that I wouldn't be able to see elsewhere?

Just saying.

Laughing isn’t good for you.
To many people don’t laugh enough. So serious. It’s sad.

I’m glad you said it. I tend to ignore any post that has lol at the end of it.

The Art Of Banksy Curated by Steve Lazarides, by Charlesworth on May 6, 2019 19:48:49 GMT 1, I’m glad you said it. I tend to ignore any post that has lol at the end of it. I think it's an interesting phenomenon - a bit like how 'fuck' can have so many different meanings depending on the context. I always assume that it's rarely meant literally, as in 'I am laughing right now and I want to make sure you know', and often its inclusion seems to carry unpleasant undertones. I think the intended meaning can range from the author wanting to be clear that their statement is a sarcastic one (unnecessary if the statement is well written), to ensuring that the statement is sufficiently belittling or passively aggressive. Finally of course, there are some who seem incapable of writing anything without including 'lol' at the end, and unfortunately this makes them come across as slightly simple rather than joyful. However in this case we can only take murrke at his work and assume that he was indeed happily laughing to himself as he typed his message. And really that's a lovely image.
Lol

Very well put. And as for murrke, it must be rewarding to find oneself so funny so often.

I think most sane people prefer to laugh then be miserable.

The Art Of Banksy Curated by Steve Lazarides, by hibster on May 7, 2019 13:16:51 GMT 1, WITH OVER 80 ORIGINAL WORKS, THIS IS THE LARGEST EXHIBITION WITH BANKSY ART EVER ASSEMBLED! “The Art of Banksy” displays the world’s largest touring collection of Banksy’s works, including canvases, screenprints and sculptures. The artworks are on loan from a group of international collectors, some of whom have been supporters of the artist from the early beginning. This touring exhibition is not authorized by Banksy. The artist is not involved in the curation of the collection.
out of curiosity how many pieces were at the Bristol museum show? if you think about the caged off area, surely it was well over 80?

I just thought again. If only half of the officialdom sanction its half-official nature then really it should be:
"half-officially half-official" just for clarity...
actually... would "half-officially half-official" just make it "one quarter official"?

The Art Of Banksy Curated by Steve Lazarides, by heller on May 7, 2019 16:28:44 GMT 1, I attended the Miami Show and enjoyed it very much. The print retrospective was simply fantastic and to be able to stop, study and enjoy works that are all privately owned and rarely seen was amazing. Once these show's end, the works will all go back the original owners and then likely back into storage vaults not to be seen for years to come. These expositions draw in an entire new group of collectors that will continue to help sustain the Banksy market for generations to come. The fact that it is unauthorized does appeal to the general public as they don't understand the history. Also since PC does not issue a certificate for an original work removed from its original location, by showing originals in this type of show, gives the original shown an additional source of provenance close to the source. It will be interesting if the originals from the show now start appearing at major auction houses worldwide.
