Who's worth watching?, by Deleted on May 26, 2019 15:06:42 GMT 1, I don't know about anybody else but I'm getting a bit bored with the current art scene. It seems to be full of people churning out cartoon characters. And if it isn't cartoon characters, it's skulls or ballerinas. Is there any artist you collect that is doing something slightly more interesting and ambitious? I'm not looking for investments, just some interesting art that I can hang on my walls. I like the idea of supporting up and coming artists but I'm struggling to find anyone worth looking at these days. Any suggestions?

Depending where you are, go to the big commercial galleries for all things new.

Yeah, I used to follow various prestigious art schools and check on their degree shows as they came along. But the last couple I have looked at online have been 90% 'installations' or video work. Not exactly the sort of thing you could hang on your wall at home.

Those small little markets, car boots, fairs e.t.c.
More so if your looking for something to hang.

Who's worth watching?, by dotdot on Jun 4, 2019 17:48:54 GMT 1, I used to recommend artists then the people I recommended them to bought their work and offered it back to me with a massive mark up. On top of that no one gives info back. It's just a one-way thing so I don't bother any more.
mostly one way , but having a laugh along the way is part of the / any deal. .. along with most of it being subjective makes it more funny...
as for now - it's "pure" tumbleweeds , but am sure a large ship in the harbour.. is coming along shortly. in terms of sheer talent - it is "out there".
as with most things ... the stuff in front of you today will be far away, tomorrow. (some in the b1n / some on the w4ll.. and some 'ah .. that'll be ...co$tly to .. in$ure').

I'm liking more and more stuff done by a forum member named Leo Boyd. Hope to have one of his originals soon. I like the fact that he incorporates both screening techniques and paint in his work and how his work exemplifies through his characters the fact that we are becoming or have become technology. I also appreciate that what he is doing, to my knowledge nobody else is doing. Probably somebody else is but Leo is nailing it on many different and humorous levels. Of course some more humorous than others but IMHO he definitely has something going here.

I think this is the first time Quarm has been mentioned on the forum. Conrad Egyir is doing amazing work as well.
