to answer the question, the background colour has been screen printed, so it's nice and flat. the bear and elements are giclee, then there is a varnish silkscreen over that to make it pop.
we did a giclee/silkscreen hybrid so we could keep the print price low/affordable.
Future editions are likely to be 100% silkscreen as i'm a bit a of stickler for the old ways, like many people on here. but for care bear, i wanted to make a fun uplifting piece that didn't cost too much and get it out while it was still august (weird superstitious artist thing).
of course affordability is very subjective. so i'm really happy that people seemed to like the piece and got one.
anyway, i'll have a 100% silkscreened edition coming out for the ACBF viral bonaza. so keep an eye out.

I’m please to announce that my latest exhibition ‘The Universe Is On Your Side’ opens today at Waluso Gallery London. Waluso is no longer is Hoxton and can be found just off Brick Lane, 63 Hanbury Street.
To avoid congestion in the gallery the show opens at 12pm today and runs until early evening. Allowing people to view at their leisure with social distancing.
The sales catalogue is also now available, please contact the gallery to receive it. Quite a few pieces have already sold.

Euan Roberts’ new show at Waluso Gallery, ‘The Universe Is On Your Side,’ is named after an upbeat and joyful painting he produced during a less complicated time. Ironically applied to 2020, the title of the show represents Euan’s attempt to paint his truth during this difficult year while maintaining his typically buoyant and optimistic style. The artist explains that:
‘Against the backdrop of a global pandemic, tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorists, anti-vax and anti-mask protests, a crumbling USA, rising mental health problems and toilet-roll hoarding, this show is almost entirely about the absence of human beings... animals reign supreme and act as avatars representing the many facets of the human condition.’
This sentiment is captured in Euan’s distinctive bright colour palette with clear lines in thick acrylic paint. One such painting depicts a gormless dog wearing his thinking cap that is simultaneously sweet and unsettling. The ‘thinking cap’ mirrors a MAGA hat but notably in Democtatic blue - is this the artist’s analysis on the upcoming and seismic US presidential elections? Or more a comment on the UK's conservative governments handling of COVID 19?
Another pensive work shows an excitable chimp about to smash an iPhone with a rock. The chimp using its favoured, primitive tool to destroy our (humans) favoured tool begs the question: should we be like the chimp and obliterate our smartphones to be free from the tech giants ruling our lives? Or would we immediately regret the primitive act of violence and crawl back to the apple store, joining a socially distanced queue for a new iPhone X?
The beauty in Euan’s work is there are no rules, no right or wrong answers, just questions. ‘The Universe Is On Your Side’ exemplifies the best of this exciting emerging artist’s style, humour and irony.
