Strangely, he doesn't seem to care.

Has Glastonbury always been about artists or was it just a music festival before (I'm not English)? ๐

Glastonbury Festival, by lukas01 on Jul 18, 2024 13:43:46 GMT 1, Iโm the young demographic on here tho. OLD FARTS ALL OF U ๐คก๐คท .. It has always been creative but used to be more crafty I would say. The most impressive โpiecesโ were massive inflatables they would hang up in rave tents, flags. Youโd see trippy sculptures made of wood and tires, things like that from around farm. That type of stuff is still there in the older areas. But I think theyโre learning a bit from Coachella Burning man. Mixing in more of the focus on art from there, spending money on it now. It does work. I hadnโt been for a while and it was so much better. I went to look at what a โCoachella Burning Manโ is. I think I have understood that it is not an adequate training path for the growth of this festival.
Are you the youngest? Old young or young young, I don't think it makes much difference. You can be a good person at 30 rather than 70. And you can be an avoidable person at 20 rather than 60. However, I just turned 40 and I think I'm the youngest person here, certainly even more than you. ๐
Were there other artists besides Banksy (maybe) and Paul Insect (they said there was)?

Are you saying that Glastonbury is learning from those places ? It's just a evolution of Mutoid waste. Block 9, arcadia, shangri la etc all come from the traveller scene.

Glastonbury Festival, by xite on Jul 18, 2024 14:02:54 GMT 1, Arcadia wouldnโt be out of place at Burning man. It was mind blowing this year.
But I think Glastonbury is putting more money into those areas because itโs seen what art can be at a festival in Burning Man / Coachella.
Anyway.. they donโt care where it comes from, I thought they fucked most of the travellers off when they stopped it all being burlesque down there. Theyโre put money to where the best creatives are.

However, an industry is always created and it is still trade.

Glastonbury Festival, by lukas01 on Jul 18, 2024 14:55:31 GMT 1, Ehehheh, were you dealing at 5 in the morning? I'm joking, obviously! They took a bad picture of you. :-))) I was buzzing when it came out because thereโs not many pictures of punters over the 50years. Itโs all performers.. but they painted me as a dealer ๐๐คท.. still a bigger pic of me than Beyoncรฉ for example (so fuck her! ๐) Banksy has written for it. Itโs a good book if you like Glastonbury. Iโm on page 227 (2009). Happy to sign your copies just ask ๐ A Banksy book from 2009? It would be wonderful to have a copy, but I think it's a rarity to find one now. And in any case it will certainly be at a price that is out of my reach.
I don't want to hope, in this case, because it would be an illusion. ๐
This festival is basically a free party, where there is a combination of art and music, creating fun. But is the music 24 hours a day?
I've never been there, but who knows in the future, it may be that sooner or later I will go there too.
--------------- The 2009 festival took place between 24 and 28 June. In stark contrast to previous years, the 137,500 tickets went on sale on 5 October 2008, earlier than any other edition, with pre-registered customers able to pay in full, or leave a ยฃ50 deposit to complete payment by February 1st. The tickets were sold out. The full list of artists who would perform was announced on 25 May 2009 and included Blur, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young on the Pyramid. The other stage was led by The Prodigy, Pendulum, Maxรฏmo Park, Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand. Other notable artists included Jarvis Cocker, Rolf Harris, Fairport Convention (playing at the very first Glastonbury Festival), Steel Pulse, Doves, Lady Gaga, Jason Mraz, Nick Cave, Pete Doherty, Hugh Cornwell, Status Quo, The Gaslight Anthem (during whose show Springsteen appeared on stage for their song The '59 Sound), Madness, Dizzee Rascal, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Lily Allen, Kasabian, Florence and the Machine and Spinal Tap.
The weather forecast, initially favorable, later became balanced during the previous week - three days of rain. However, after a heavy downpour during Thursday night and Friday morning which generated some mud, the second half of Friday and all of Saturday were fully sunny, very hot and dry. Despite some heavy downpours and thunderstorms on Sunday night, Glastonbury 2009 defied the forecast to enjoy some of the best weather the festival has ever seen. (Wikipedia)

I saw mostly all the bands in London, at the Nashville Club, all became legends and some are still playing at Glastonbury ( style The Cure that I did not liked then ) โฆ From Siouxsie, Pil, LKJ with I spare a great time walking with him ( I was only 19 ), Clash, all the Ska bands, a lot of Reggae , Peter Tosh , punk, post punk, New wave, Stones in 76 when I was 16 ( and made 400 km by hitchhiking to see them ) , Bowie ( Heroes, I shot him in photo ), dismaland ( thanks AP ) etc .. So where were you ? You have not the right to talk of them ( if we listen your opinion ) because you were still a baby playing darts in the nursery !

Glastonbury Festival, by xite on Jul 18, 2024 15:21:28 GMT 1, You didnโt even go! Stop spamming the thread. You will get a gold medal ๐ฅ. I ordered it a Temu. Just for you. i just wanted to ask you : where were you in 78/81 etc ? So donโt talk of this festival if you never saw these bands before ( this is my LAW ahaha, vicious gnome ) So Iโve spoken to helpdesk. Theyโve said itโs a known virus. Donโt engage.. try loggin on tomorrow

Glastonbury Festival, by Lroy on Jul 18, 2024 15:21:34 GMT 1, A Banksy book from 2009? It would be wonderful to have a copy, but I think it's a rarity to find one now. And in any case it will certainly be at a price that is out of my reach. I don't want to hope, in this case, because it would be an illusion. ๐ This festival is basically a free party, where there is a combination of art and music, creating fun. (Wikipedia) Itโs a Glastonbury book, about the last 50years. It talks about different decades, not a Banksy book but he wrote a couple of pages in it. anyway.. yes go!.. Itโs like what you expect free party etc but bigger and with camping You know nothing apart mud : Exite from Pain Print

Glastonbury Festival, by lukas01 on Jul 18, 2024 15:24:50 GMT 1, Of course it's bigger!... 150,000 people and square kilometers of land, it couldn't be otherwise.
There's a bit of a mess around there these days. ๐

I don't think he's a drug addict. ;-)
Where there is art and music, there is culture and opportunities for growth. If there is also fun, it doesn't hurt. ๐

He's not old. He is differently young. ;-) Lroy bought a hand sprayed denim jacket that should be great now. Each of us has our own opportunities. His vicissitudes.
