I was there before the big fence was put up making it harder for people to bunk in. And that was bad. The quotes were something between 50000 and 100000 people got in without paying. You couldn't move and a fair amount of them were right scallies. This year they have more fields to camp in so the extra people shouldn't cause a problem. And with the new ticketing system, big walls and security hopefully the scum will be down to a minimum. As for the commercial aspect, it is only posters, sponsors and the beer. It's not like there is a Tesco and Slug and Lettuce on site. People who complain about the 'commercial' side of Glastonbury are usually old hippies and people who never paid in the first place. This will be my 9th time at the festival and would highly recommend you going if you get the chance.

what gets me with the coverage though is that there's hundreds of bands there and the beeb are just repeating the same few bands/songs on all the TV channels
about an hour ago they did play 1 track by a guy called Soweto Kinch* - a great mix of Jazz & hip hop and another guy called k'naan* (?) who was also excellent.... why not show more of this stuff??

Editors are amazing live, saw them at Brixton last year. Get the Back Room CD you shouldn't be disappointed. A bit like Joy Division.

He was fantastic, the best act I've seen so far, brilliant!
Being as old as I am I remember Glastonbury of old, I think 86/87 were the years I went, and back then there was no barrier, no TV, much less security, you were right up against the main pyramid stage it was very common to just get up onto the stage, most of the time people didn't but if the mood was right you could. The second year I went they had installed a rolling bar at the lip of the stage, but it wasn't fully effective.
