Prescription Art Not Responsive , by Happy Shopper on Jul 15, 2019 12:13:56 GMT 1, Can you not read? All sounds very reasonable to me. James is a great guy to deal with and clearly getting it sorted! What? Are you serious? Where is he "getting it sorted"? Look at P.A.'s final paragraph where, to paraphrase, he says he is going to make the customer wait more than a fortnight for "trashing him" over the internet. Perhaps some people are happy to promote such vindictive behaviour but I'm certainly not. He has a perfect right to be annoyed. He's been given no time at all to sort it out, before the problem was made public. He runs a business. Anyone would feel the same.

Edit: that's not a comment on the rights or wrongs of the situation though. Sounds like this could have been handled better with clearer communication on both sides.

I think you might have genuinely misunderstood what james was saying in that paragraph.

Honestly this should never have been a thread, the willingness to bad mouth and demonise at the drop of a hat, is both astounding and utterly depressing.

All in all this would have been much better being dealt with in private and if Inkart or indeed PA were not happy with the resolution after a reasonable time frame ie a wee bit more than a long weekend, then the "not so good dealings with" thread would have been the place for spleens to be vented.

I get the feeling it was a dream purchase so anxiety was involved before it even went wrong. Then it did go wrong.
For the record James is genuinely I good guy, I hope you guys can now resolve this in private.

^ one of the most well balanced, reasonable comments here. Ultimately we're dealing with people's livelihoods here, so until the refund is given or not given we should be careful what is said. I get OPs stress obviously, I hope the refund is settled amicably soon.

Prescription Art Not Responsive , by Coach on Jul 15, 2019 15:29:34 GMT 1, Forget all the stuff like he has only had a couple of days to sort it out, he is a good guy (which i am sure he is). It all boils down to the fact that PA, as a gallery, described a print as MINT when it is far from mint and has had some repairs. This would totally ring alarm bells to me straight away, which i guess is why INKART brought it up on here, especially after being told he didn't know when a refund would be forthcoming! A gallery who has been dealing for a long time would surely know what is mint, what is nearly mint, very good, good, repaired but very good etc etc. Even if it was sold on consignment, this print should have been checked thoroughly before shipping. This kind of money can ruin people........ There should be an instant apology and a no quibble refund.
Two things. PA hasnโt got the print back yet. Donโt you think he should be able to inspect the print for himself. Twice now Iโve seen members saying PA should have apologised. Didnโt OP already say that he had? I suggest we all leave it to PA to sort out direct with the OP.

Are the facts not clear enough to you?
A print was described as mint by an art dealer but it arrives with damage and has been trimmed. No contrition, no urgency of resolution, just sarcasm, busy excuses and irritation.
This guy has spent $20k on a print and lives in another country. If I were the gallery owner I would have driven the 1 3/4 hour trip to Markโs and be waiting there at opening time.
Itโs what a business man would do, not just to display resolution on this thread and restore confidence in their business but to put the CUSTOMER out of his misery.
Iโm glad this has been posted. Just in the same way Iโm glad that trip advisor tells me where not to stay and not to eat dinner.
Nobody has been ill informed here.

Perhaps some people are happy to promote such vindictive behaviour but I'm certainly not. I read it as him saying that trashing his business may harm his finances, making it more difficult to sort out a refund, rather than him being deliberately vindictive. Edit: that's not a comment on the rights or wrongs of the situation though. Sounds like this could have been handled better with clearer communication on both sides. I can certainly agree with your second paragraph but I'm still confused regarding your first paragraph. Are you (and the gallery) suggesting that they can't give a refund until they have received other orders to the value of the refund concerned? Surely not. Galleries do not operate like that; at least I sincerely hope they don't.

Prescription Art Not Responsive , by Adcua on Jul 15, 2019 17:14:30 GMT 1, Why would he not start a thread? Away from the drama of the refund, the gallery has advertised something as mint when it isn't.
Who knows, thanks to this thread it might stop other people being sold wrongly advertised pieces from this gallery. I certainly wouldn't purchase from them.
Everyone saying how the gallery is good they will sort it, if so good it wouldn't be advertised and sold incorrectly in the first place.

Looking at the pictures of the damage they must have had there eyes closed when looking at the print.

Who knows, thanks to this thread it might stop other people being sold wrongly advertised pieces from this gallery. I certainly wouldn't purchase from them. Everyone saying how the gallery is good they will sort it, if so good it wouldn't be advertised and sold incorrectly in the first place. How do you know it was advertised as โmintโ? Prints are never mint ever when fresh off the print, its just a stupid terminology created by forumites to give themselves some sort of false security in selling or buying. If I was PA I would be asking questions, it could be possible some manhandling or mistreatment of the print was done en route the buyer. Plus he sounds like a right proper whinny dick, why would anyone jump to his petulance. Funny watching some wade in with their pitchforks for a nember with a few months history vs someone who has a good standing for over 13 years.
Why would he not start a thread? Away from the drama of the refund, the gallery has advertised something as mint when it isn't.
