I'm pretty certain that the older brother of one of my mates is involved. I remember seeing stacks of toaster-stamped recorded delivery stickers knocking about in his flat.
They used to have a website. I think it was toasterstoasters.co.uk, but it seems to be dead now. They've done some cool stuff...

i heard he went through rubish finding bread, when he had enough a bite was taken out to make the shape of humans,each piece of bread was coated in wax to preserve it.
after reading this maybe he was sponsered by Motherspride.

The Toasters have entertained the streets since 1999, initially appearing via personalized Royal Mail Special Delivery stickers that seemed to get stuck to anything that wasn't a parcel... Since then the Toaster has strategically and painstakingly appeared on posters, banners, stickers and murals all over the world from Berlin, Stockholm, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Sydney, New York, Paris, Peckham. Everywhere.
The toasters goal is to cover the streets as far and as wide as possible with their unique mark with their main intention being purely entertainment.
Upon stumbling on the Toaster image, it somehow has a calming affect. It's as if the Toaster reflects both the mundaneity of life at the same time as showing a beautifully simple and useful design. For years the combination of its witty placement and its beautiful execution has conveyed a playful and somehow safe joy, often in stark contrast to the polluted streets filled with poor architecture or municipal banality.
Enter the Circus, going from town to town, country to country. Fly-posting graphic evocative entertaining artwork in localised areas. The Circus Art genre is another graphic tour de force. Street and Circus art work have the similarity of both high impact and only staying up for a short period of time and therefore leave an underlying anticipation for when they are going to come back...
The toasters have created a striking collection of hand stenciled and hand painted vintage Circus posters (collected by Nelly from cities around the world) and originals. Come and see how the Toasters have brought their street magic to the Circus. The greatest show on Earth starts on November 8th 2007, for 3 days only!!!!
