I know it creates more posts, helps with SEO, ebay links and affiliate marketing could help drive revenue but aren't you worried about what you're encouraging posting links to shady eBay auctions where lesser aware members may be taken advantage of? Can you tell us what's happening with the forum - are you looking to sell? Any answer Dan? You haven’t appeared on here for many months and now you posting up constant eBay threads, when it’s worked well for years being strict and not having eBay posts/threads?.

If you click the link to view the crap then buy something else from eBay within 24 hours (it doesn't have to be the item from the original link) then the affiliate will receive a cut.
With respect to the owner of the site who can do what he likes of course, this sort of behaviour cheapens a forum and can rapidly alienate the membership.
Edit: There's nothing wrong with affiliate links per se, and of course there's nothing wrong with tweaking the site to help pay for itself. But perhaps a better tactic would be to automatically rewrite any eBay links that are posted organically by members to include your affiliate code, rather than posting links for the sake of it simply to generate tracked clicks.

I think it would be better to remove the "Have you seen a Fake" part and change it to "Have you seen a real Banksy"

It’s Just my feedback, it’s your site and you can do whatever you want with it. If you want eBay clicks then you could let people post there own eBay links via the FS thread as a lot of people feel safer purchasing via eBay?

Sorry, my style of posting has always been to ask members questions rather than statements. I like to encourage people to discuss and question the topic, so more people get involved and I feel that leads to people learning more.

It's a comparable situation to the sketch in your collection, I'm afraid. Also visibly fake:
