Adam Neate FOR SALE on ebay, by Express Post on Aug 19, 2019 1:54:29 GMT 1, A lot of the younger guys may not know, but these launched at ยฃ650 in 2007 and used to flip for triple. He was the Pejac of his day. Super hyped, did some mediocre work, and ultimately got tossed into the sales bin.
Only people buying are those filled with nostalgia of a scene that once was.

There was nothing mediocre about his output, the pump and dump killed him, end of.
Now is a good time for people who liked his works and didnโt get caught up in the hype to buy for a good price
Same with Micallef, Borondo, and others

I accept that his work is no longer as sought after as it once was, and this is reflected in his secondary sales prices. But mediocre? I donโt agree with that. He has created some magnificent art over the years. Truly beautiful pieces. There was one for sale on her a while ago, religious image of a figure with a halo, that was the best Iโve seen. I only went to one of his shows, years ago, but it was terrific. Textured large scale works each one of which Iโd have been happy to hang and cherish. And thatโs all before one even starts to consider his contribution to the street art scene.

Adam Neate FOR SALE on ebay, by avec art on Aug 19, 2019 12:30:25 GMT 1, Around the time of some incredible mainstream auction results, he got taken under the wing of Paul Jones of Elms Lesters, and at first this seemed a positive thing. But his art work soon changed and tightened up, amid rumours of Adam's work being cultivated for the rapidly growing 'Asian' market.
Then all the lose and splashy freehand work on cardboard and the like, which appeared to tell a story of his experiences of the streets, almost dropped away overnight.
The artwork became a lot more rigid both physically (lenticular editions) and visually. The flowing curves often giving way to more straight and almost an art deco type of appearance.
What can I say, I think he's a great talent, and I appreciate it's no ones position but his to decide where the art goes, but I hope he will reconnect to what I believe drew people's attention to him in the first place.

Adam Neate FOR SALE on ebay, by avec art on Aug 19, 2019 12:41:37 GMT 1, yea, perhaps so. I wasn't sure of the time line ... but you know what I'm saying. In fact I think it was EL themselves who put that suicide bomber into auction at Sothebys, which sold for around ยฃ60k I think.
Either way, only in my opinion, his best work was before he was with them. I'm not hating on anyone, and definitely not Paul, but as someone else was trying to explain a bit of history behind his work, I thought I might chip in.

Adam Neate FOR SALE on ebay, by jp on Aug 19, 2019 20:55:13 GMT 1, 2008 THE LONDON SHOW Across all 33 boroughs of Greater and Central London Solo 2008 THE ADAM & RON SHOW Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, London Group 2007 Paintings, Pots and Prints Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, London Solo 2006 In or Out ? Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, London Group 2006 HYPE Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, London Group
He exhibited with Elms since 2006 at least, and I thought his best work was in his Solo show in 2007, "Paintings, Pots and Prints". His output from that show was absolutely fantastic, the exact opposite of "mediocre".
What happened from there is another story, that probably only he could properly tell...

Adam Neate FOR SALE on ebay, by avec art on Aug 19, 2019 21:32:54 GMT 1, I'd like to see his "best work" before he was with Elms Lesters.... I've been very explicit that this is ONLY my opinion. Art is a subjective thing right, I'm not saying he was necessarily technically better with his street art, just that I preferred it. This is forum where we're meant to express our opinions and views isn't it, rather than simply go along with what everyone else thinks. By the time of Paintings, Pots and Prints in 2006 although it had echoes of earlier work, I began to lose interest, I never bought into any of the giclees that many people loved.
If on other other hand your remark was sincere rather than sarcasm, then unfortunately I don't suppose it is very easy to see earlier stuff he did. They were less documented (no instagram). He did have his own website where he published many of the cardboard pieces as a sort of authentication, as I believe fakes of his work were being knocked out on ebay. There was a lot a hype around him and in my mind at least for good reason.
