Sandra Chevrier, Cages and the Fallen Flags, by sgolby on Aug 22, 2019 2:26:49 GMT 1, I find her work to be repetitive, gimmicky and meaningless. Sorry, but can someone please explain to me what appeals to them about yet another woman with yet another comic book collage on her face??

I personally find posts like this repetitive and meaningless. Sorry. But itโs not your fault. It would be easy to find the very answer to this question but any discussion has been lost in a sea of repetitive and meangless threads.โ

I disagree completely. The idea of a forum is to have a discussion. I said i find her work boring and meaningless and am asking for someone or some people to educate me. I am not trying to throw shade just to throw shade. This is honestly how i feel about her work, but as someone who cares to expand my mind, i am open to discussion and education. So again, anyone on here caring to engage in a conversation, letโs have at it.

Sandra Chevrier, Cages and the Fallen Flags, by sgolby on Aug 22, 2019 11:38:10 GMT 1, Personally not a fan of Sandra and Iโm guilty of thinking my opinion matters as well. How about we just leave the thread if we arenโt into the artist? Or maybe we can start a Sandra Hate thread! Itโs not like any of us here have good taste.
Because if we keep out opinions to ourselves and donโt engage in discussion then this forum becomes a hypebeast blog type thing.

Well as people like to say around here that thread has been done to death. Yawn. Boring and meaningless is an okay opinion to have that takes two seconds to formulate and write, yet you expect a more refined and in-depth response? The time has already been taken by many to explain so stop being lazy and search for it.

Well, I love sexy ladies. And I love superheroes.
Therefore, it is only natural that I also love images of sexy ladies with torn pages of superhero comics glued to their faces.
Sandra Chevrier's art is very colourful too. Loads of bright colours. It's a seamless fit with my man-child home decor.
And when visitors ask about the meaning, I can repeat Chevrier's explanations. Her ex post facto artistic concept is moving and deep: Life is really hard for young, attractive women. Society's expectations are like cages, totally unrealistic. It's a never-ending struggle!
Plus, Swizz Beatz supports her work. So there.

No need for name calling, or accusing me of being lazy slim. If you want me to get into why it is, here you go. Every kid who goes to art school draws comic book characters, to be frank it doesnโt exactly take much skill. Putting it on a womanโs face, ok interesting comment, but now we are talking what, 5 years, of virtually the same face us a different character?? Like i said, it gets boring as hell.
met i appreciate what you are saying, but again at what point is it time to pivot and begin exploring new concepts. Kind of like Daniel arsham, at the beginning his concept was dope, now it feels beyond dead, as an idea. As for swizz, really who cares, lol.

You say hey no insults while you thank the pretentious poster that drops this gem, โIt's a seamless fit with my man-child home decor.โ
Sure thing.
You say donโt bring insults but your premise is if you hang her art you have boring and meaningless art on your wall, thus insulting everyone that likes her art, hangs her art, or beyond the mouth met find meaning in it.
Now go start this thread for stik and invader.

Sandra Chevrier, Cages and the Fallen Flags, by sgolby on Aug 23, 2019 1:13:01 GMT 1, d.r. perseus i actually did post the same thing in the last Stik thread and was educated as to STIKโs relevance in London, and why his large format prints were enticing to so many, not to mention the charitable work he has been doing for years.
I was not thanking met for anything more than engaging and providing what seemed plausible inspiration for Sandraโs work.
As for the insults, i was not trying to be insulting, simply stating how I personally felt. I has sold all my Invader pieces except for my Rubik Kubrik Scream, which I love, precisely for the reason i donโt like Sandra Chevrier. I grew tired of looking at slightly different iterations of exactly the same thing over and over.
Please hang whatever you want on your walls. This is not your dinner party, it is an art discussion forum. If you invited me to your house and i was forced to sit in what felt like a comic book store, i would engage you the same way however, and ask what it all meant to you.
