New Harland Millers , by Deleted on Aug 22, 2019 12:37:05 GMT 1, Ok. This is just a personal request.
Please, please don't buy the new Harland Millers (actually just re-released) prints. They will be announced very very soon or some may have already been told about them.
These are the same old prints with just hand variations on them. Do Not Spend 35,000 - 40,000 Euros on this. Don't do it. Please can we stop allowing galleries to do this!
If his originals actually sold, or sold for record prices, I could somewhat understand this but... they don't. Simple as that. His last show flopped, so hard, they are trying to make up the money by selling overpriced prints. This is a clear sign of the poor art market and what galleries are trying to do to keep a float during these times.
Prints are the biggest money makers for them; since they are overpriced sucker pieces during these downturns. Be careful with overpriced prints this year. This is the only way these galleries are surviving right now; by selling extremely overpriced prints since originals simply are not selling.
If you spend 35,000 + on a harland miller PRINT... you should be kicked in the balls by your kids.

In speaking with the man himself a few weeks back you appear to be creating some misconceptions about the show in HK for some reason. The artist as well as the gallery seem to be under the impression that the majority of the show sold at the preview. As Iโve had a long time personal relationship with both I canโt imagine why either would be untruthful about it....

New Harland Millers , by Deleted on Aug 22, 2019 13:10:36 GMT 1, I say let the art market and auction results answer all your questions not a gallery or artist.
If the art market is game for 35,000-40,000 euro Harland Miller prints right now... Then fantastic. Great for him and the gallery. They probably still will sell out and while I'm just ranting... promoting 35,000 dollar prints during this time to me is... just silly.
If you purchase the print show a photo. I'm sure it's stunning.
And I was wrong... It's 35,000 starting not 30,000.
If you believe in him and believe the value of his prints are worth this then I say go and buy it. Probably better than buying bitcoin... or is it....

Just addressing your statement of his HK show โflopping...so hardโ as you put it. This seems nothing more than conjecture. While this is the internet and it is now accepted to pass along opinions as facts the actual facts from credible sources do also sometimes help a bit. Now...will credible facts stop people from believing what they want to believe? Sadly...we know that answer all too well.
Also.. in total agreement that there are most likely much more rewarding things in life to do with 35k

New Harland Millers , by campfire headphase on Aug 23, 2019 14:21:40 GMT 1, Iโm sure there are forum members trying to sell Harland prints here privately for ยฃ35k. Why the boycott against galleries? Just ignore them. No need to boycott. They need to make a profit like every business. Theyโre not charity organizations. Shouldnโt we also be talking smack about UAA members creating multiple profiles to create speculation and also talk up prices to absurd levels?
