History dictates that the artist has always kept his plans a closely-guarded secret until the last minute (Barely Legal, Bristol Museum, Dismaland, Walled Off Hotel), so why on earth would something be announced months beforehand? I would guess this is yet another unofficial, unsanctioned show.

He hasn't done anything really that big in Asia ever. China would expose him immediately if he went there. haha. Japan makes the most sense for him. He's learning from KAWS (ouch)....
Sorry Europeans; artists have to make money. US and Asia are the largest two markets. He's done US already. Now for Asia. Honestly, Finally..... Hope this is true. Would be good for his legacy to do something in Asia.

But if that is the date, then its timed quite nicely with the Paralympics, there will be a lot of people already in Japan for that who could swing by...

Fukushima nuclear plant , North Korea testing bombs / missiles over Japan's territory , Japan just started commercial whaling again all themes to suit banksy type art and it seems he needs to be in the media every 6 months , would gain world exposure through multi media news outlets and gaining new fans if true with exhibition ?!
as mentioned with paraolympics too a bonus with media news broadcasting worldwide , gets people talking with a few stencils around town
and biggest collectors of Warhol and basquait are Japanese and Chinese collectors assume banksy brand hoping to break into that market
so makes sense if true to exhibit there

Yes unfortunately thats how banksy displays his work, how he wants to be percieved , witty and clever at first but becoming repetitive and nothing new , the artist is in his 40s ? Another 20 years of this?
Loses the interest and mystique eventually.
Just becomes a media stunt followed by highly publicised auctions a few months later .
Is he not established enough to release work normally?
Not really from the streets or fighting the system as made out originally .
The outdoor stencil work is improving in detail though!
