They quite rightly are asserting that only they can authenticate Banksy works. Fair enough.
So ... anyone buying a tenner, knowing they wonโt get a PC coa, but wanting a real one anyway, will look at other ways to get a real one.
Ways to do that? Buy from a trusted seller with provenance or buy one with a Laz coa (and proof of purchase).
Itโs not fail safe. But itโs the best anyone wanting a tenner can do.
This does mean that tenners from a trusted seller with provenance or a Laz letter and proof of purchase will carry a premium over, say, one bought on eBay.
As such, such provenance or letter does not have 0 value as you suggested. As can be illustrated by the fact that people are paying over 1k for these and a lot less from other sources.

Edit - for transparency I have not bought a tenner with a Laz coa or one from bottleneck (if my memory is correct that it was bottleneck selling tenners recently)

Sorry but COA from Steve is a valid COA as far as I'm concerned. It's not unusual for agents to provide these things. Mainly it's enough to determine it's not a fake. That's all that matters.
