Sorry, new to Banksy COA:

how do you proof that you are the rightful owner of a piece to Pest Control? Especially when you are not the original owner, say in case of an inheritance or purchase on a forum?

Im currently in the process of getting a COA for my banksy purchased through POW, waaaay back in the day.

PC have requested to see the print in order to verify it and then issue COA. 

Has anyone been through authentication day process that they offer where the print is couriered to and from PC?

I guess Pest Controls task of trying to contact buyers, sellers, owners of print is becoming more and more difficult as less people seem to use emails now.
Also I wonder if the issue of collectors hiding their identities is a big part of the problem? Remember back in the day, many would go to great lengths to hide their identities on the forum, ebay, when they were reselling Banksy pieces, due to the fear of POW blacklisting them from future releases.
Has the use of fake names, fake email accounts, muddied the water so much that it's near impossible for Pest Control make sense of it all.

I would like to say yes in a one word post but i cant. Yes.

I had to get mine to their inspection day, but being in Edinburgh it wasn't cheap to have them picked up, so I drove them to the couriers myself. Then there was a delay, so I had to come back the following week to pick them up. so I had to drive Edinburgh to Gatwick Airport twice to get it sorted. Probably shoulda just paid the ££ but I was feeling tight and didn't have much work on. Once Flight logistics have them its all covered by Pest Control insurance, but even so, if the van they picked them up in caught fire and your print goes up in smoke, how can there be a payout if they were on their way to being authenticated? That gave me the fear....

Flight Logistics have seen it all though, and were extremely helpful. 

Couldn't say exactly, but by the time it arrived I had totally forgotten about it, so maybe a month or two?

Did it come in an envelope or a package and was it waterproof? My mailbox is exposed to the weather and rain gets in all the time. Im concerned.

Come back after 12-18 months and see if its still pending, likely it will be.

Got home after posting this from the studio, and there it was, sitting in  the letterbox.

How did you you contact GDP please? I just get an auto-reply pointing to PC

Its somewhat long, but not untypical. Have had a quite a few prints take 12-24 months. I am not sure what drives it, but sometimes I think its whether there is clear ownership chain for the piece on file at PC or not that matches what you have submitted in the authentication request.

Aaand yet, Tate Ward just sent this in an email, 

“Due to there being a development in the relationship between Tate Ward Auctions and Pest Control, we have secured a viewing date to get unauthenticated Banksy editioned prints and/or originals that we intend to sell in our future auctions, authenticated. This means we can now obtain COA’s for works we sell at auction, prior to the auction.”
