Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by totalnirvana on Feb 2, 2024 15:08:05 GMT 1, I sent Pest Control 2 Change of Ownership requests back in Aug 2020. They replied (for both pieces) in Jan 2021 to request additional info (images of edition number, signature and photo ID next to edition number) and confirmation from me and the seller of the ownership change. And we sent everything back to them within the week. A few days later I got a reply from Pest Control for one of the 2 pieces to say "we will be in touch regarding this request once all of our due diligence checks are complete", but no reply about the other piece. It's now more than 3 years since the original Change of Ownership for both pieces, and I've followed them up several times, as has the sellers, and I've tried from different email accounts (gmail etc) but still no reply. Is this normal? Does anyone have any advice? Should I be concerned if/when I want to sell one of these? Thanks for any advice you can share! Exactly the same here, though mine was 2021... Glad I'm not alone.
I'll try the different email address trick if I don't get a reply this time round but other than that I don't really know what to do...!

I have provided everything they needed but they haven't acknowledged any further emails to confirm all is good .... hope i don't have to wait 3 years .....although not planning on selling

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by radnatic on Feb 9, 2024 9:35:25 GMT 1, Hello, a question for the experienced Bansky collectors. I have submitted a COA request in December 2021. Then they had questions, which I answered. My last email from them was from September 2022, where they said they would get in touch when it goes to the next stage. What do you think, is this waiting time normal or should I ask?

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by Wanchope on Feb 9, 2024 13:44:19 GMT 1, Well said! Pest control is an absolute joke and i don't know of any other business who would be in operation if they acted like this. It kills me to read questions like it's been 2 years since their last reply or 3/4 years and "is this normal" - WTAF it shouldn't be more than a week or two to respond to an email - too many people give them too much grace period. It has certainly put me off wanting to add anymore banksys to my collection and if I am wholly honest I am surprised by the man himself over this shambles of a company, but I am glad he is giving his VIP group first dibs on new pieces so they should be happy (this is said using a sarcastic tone). Man up, sort out your PC company and release a bloody print that average joes may have a shot of buying!

The new print isn't one of his finest but people can judge themselves when the image is out.

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by dotdot on Feb 10, 2024 18:18:03 GMT 1, at the risk of sounding like a donkey on the other side of a fence.
PC are... well they're trying to do a job. Look simple and sounds simple.... if only.
Not everything - read that one word again a few times and perhaps something might light up on at least one cranium.. Not everything depends on them.
I'd guess that they are not working in series..... Send out a slew of emails on a relatively regular basis - and can't follow them all up.
I got an email from them a few weeks ago - 'hey can you confirm you have sold this print - read these details ! '. Have i got back to them ? Ah well no. Why not... oops am i the problem - well no , things take time. In my case .. like you ... not everything can be done that day... I have a lot of my tiny plate.
If i get back to them with anything incorrect the person who started the chain will be most miffed. I'm key to this chain now and need to make sure when i say is TOTALLY right... including what they've asked.
If it's not then the new owner/gallery or auction house... might be in a place they'd really not wish to be.
As you read - it's not all PC - it's everyone else... and the rest.
keep your heid and carry on.
..
btw : did i ever have a print - well that is for you to guess. In this nuanced world... things have moved on , P3ckh4m postcards are where it is .... rt.

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by mono on Mar 4, 2024 17:15:04 GMT 1, I sent Pest Control 2 Change of Ownership requests back in Aug 2020. Sorry to hear that I hope you have more luck than me!
Sadly I'm still waiting. I did follow them up in the new year but again I've had no reply. Pretty dissappointing.

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by keyser on Mar 4, 2024 17:23:47 GMT 1, Has anyone actually ever seen a decent fake in the flesh? I presume it's not particularly easy to make a very good forgery? Or maybe with modern printers and scanners it's very easy?
700 applications a month for COA's seems very high. I'd guess that figure probably includes requests to change ownership and maybe other enquiries?
I thought I read once that there is only around 30,000 to 40,000 Banksy prints in circulation and you'd think the majority would already have COA?

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by Acme Thunderer on Mar 4, 2024 18:49:41 GMT 1, This is actually positive PR for Banksy and Pest Control. It advertises their services and that you should never buy a Banksy without a COA. If people are waiting for a COA (who are not on UAA), then they will now know why. Might even stop some people wasting PC’s time to authenticate Di faced tenners / WCPs / POW stickers / fake tat off Etsy.
The guy from www.myartbroker.com/team/joe-syer is no more a Banksy expert than a lot of the people on this forum. He comes across as a moaning tw@t that can’t flip other people’s Banksy’s and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is put at the back of the queue on purpose.

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by cemltz on Mar 4, 2024 19:05:34 GMT 1, Without commenting on the quality of the work they are actually doing (or whether they are staffed appropriately, or whether they have hidden agendas or conflicts of interest) I think most people underestimate the challenge and amount of effort required to verify a piece of art. Somewhat paradoxically, the simpler the piece (i.e. a 3 color screen print made by drunk hacks in some rundown London print shop in 2008) the harder to verify.
Do they do a good job? Apparently not.
Is their job easy? Definitely not.

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by Rubys on Mar 5, 2024 1:53:22 GMT 1, I sent a COA request request a year ago. Got a response last week, like above, asking for additional photos of edition number/signature and photo of ID next to edition number… Hopefully doesn’t take another year for a response.
Don’t know why it takes so long as it’s been registered in my name for over 14 years and had the COA already done back then but couldn’t do the BACS transfer

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by flingading on Mar 7, 2024 14:13:10 GMT 1, Recently applied for a COA for a piece only to find out that at some point in its life between 2007 and 2020 it had already been issued with a COA. Not concerned over the authenticity of the print and presumably many COA's were misplaced or lost back when values weren't as high as they are now.
Have had some contact with Pest Control who are looking into it but has anyone else had to go through a similar situation? Do you think they'll try and reach out to the last known holder etc? Appreciate the workings of PC behind the doors are fairly unknown but would be interested to hear if anyone has gone through a similar process and what the outcome was.

The other scenario is that it's a duplicate number, which has happened sometimes.

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by mandem on Mar 7, 2024 17:29:25 GMT 1, I sent a COA request a year ago. Don’t know why it takes so long as it’s been registered in my name for over 14 years and had the COA already done back then
Just wondering why you made a second COA request for the same print? Genuine question, is it necessary? Or do you just enjoy the pain of dealing with PC ...

There is a "new" version of the COA now...so not only is Pest Control (apparently) failing to provide the basic service in a timely manner, they have increased demand because now auction houses are selling pieces with the "new" COAs and everyone with an "old" COA wants an upgrade...

Pest Control COA • Banksy Print Authentication, by Rubys on Mar 9, 2024 0:25:21 GMT 1, The reason is, as per my post… At the time I was unable to pay them via bank transfer, so I let it slip as I didn’t really need it. Now I do for insurance purposes.
old or new COA I don’t care
