Pejac NY Show, by Inknart on Nov 13, 2019 0:20:01 GMT 1, I think the whole true collectors list thing is why it has become a bit of a struggle. Especially with GDP in the background, and entirely the opposite approach. I wasn't far off buying a love letter, and tried hard for a forest, scattercrow, etc. I would have felt very aggrieved to have bought a love letter, to then see hand finished versions for the true collectors being banded about. And if these originals are +30k, it will just seem extraordinary. But if they sell, then who am I to comment. He obviously needs to fund his boat trip over. Really interesting perspective.
I also tried for all the above , with the exception of Love Letter, which I didn't find all that intriguing.
That being said, when sourcing originals at those prices to "Known Collectors," how many would abandon ship and and sell them at a loss/cost at the first sign of his market dipping (Not that it already isn't)?
Pumping pieces to privileged folks at inflated prices in a struggling market seems to be a sure fire way to tank your own market if you're pejac and team.
GDP's approach to try and sell pieces at reasonable prices to people who would be appreciative and inclined to keep pieces because of the price of admission probably will end up yielding a stronger market for said pieces. I know Pejac's are "Originals," but still an interesting perspective.

Pejac NY Show, by wottagunn on Nov 13, 2019 1:52:42 GMT 1, I won't go in to details, because I can't be bothered, but im starting to feel a little deflated about the whole thing too. Too many attempts at buying with no luck whatsoever. The increasing prices don't help either. Look at Phlegm in comparison, he's got this etching coming out on Friday that has taken him months of hard work to achieve - and its a run of 350 at $320. Just one bloke working in a tiny garden shed at his house.

Pejac NY Show, by carly on Nov 13, 2019 2:05:10 GMT 1, Is it just me or are there other Pejac collectors getting turned off by that email and the general "we're so important" vibe? I love Pejac but it's maybe time for him to find a better manager no? With Pejac never talking/writing with the audience (even in his films) versus Max's pretentious writing, his work's meaning is losing all its soul. I think I am losing any feeling of connection I had with the artist and his work. Or I'm just having a bad day...
Im feeling exactly the same not too long ago at all I would of been going for one of these but since the love letter and ting yang something has changed and I can't explain what. I don't get the same I once had when I see his work it's become stale the same formula injected into new ideas and causes. Add to that the poor management and general feeling that with each release you are a dog being fed scraps under the table I think adds up to a market that is set to tank. Too many collectors are sharing the same concerns for it to be my own imagination or is it?

Pejac NY Show, by corinthia on Nov 13, 2019 2:17:15 GMT 1, I mentioned this in a previous post. I just started appreciating Pejacs works. I reached out a few times and his management couldnโt have been nicer. I was shown over a few months several works and given the opportunity to purchase these. There never was any pressure or concern when I passed on several. It was quite the opposite. I am very much looking forward to the NY show.

Add to that the poor management and general feeling that with each release you are a dog being fed scraps under the table I think adds up to a market that is set to tank. Too many collectors are sharing the same concerns for it to be my own imagination or is it? What has changed is that many of the 'select few' have pumped the hell out of this artist & have now moved on to the likes of Edgar Plans & Javier Calleja to repeat the process. It's a painful opinion but true. If I were you i'd avoid artists like these, as soon as the market turns, everyone that has been telling you the artist's prices are going to the moon will be selling them right in front of your eyes. Prices were hitting ยฃ5k for prints, which is ludicrous (just like Javier Calleja), all the select few were always getting said prints for retail & pumping them all over instagram.ย
Donโt avoid the artists , just know when to buy and when to sell. This is a business, when an artists popularity starts to drop you sell. Simples Itโs a painting , a drawing or a print . Itโs not so important you canโt let it go. Most art gets boring on the wall after a while, so flip it out, Cash in and upgrade!
I love this game ๐

Pejac NY Show, by cyberkid on Nov 13, 2019 10:30:31 GMT 1, Its funny to compare Calleja with Pejac...
Yes, there is a Calleja hype (worldwide!) and I am not a fan of his artworks. Pejac artworks are much better imo. But the fact is that Calleja is represented by good galleries worldwide - Nanzuka, Bill Brady etc.
They are showing Calleja 3-4 times in a year - worldwide - Art Basel, Scope, Frieze etc. - in Europe, Asia and USA. Calleja is everywhere...
Max is fighting 101% and my respect for this but he can not ignore the art market rules once an artist reached a certain level. Banksy is the only one.
I hope Max and Pejac will be successfull with the NY show.

I was offered a 10k drawing from Max, a tiny drawing. 30k and upwards for these new paintings for those that simply cannot wait for the show. So pretenious. Be careful spending big as you wonโt be getting that back in resale, ever.

Pejac NY Show, by loother on Nov 13, 2019 11:58:29 GMT 1, I'm still a big fan, and have been since I first discovered him. I don't think his prints have generally been his best work, but I think a few of them are fantastic, his outside stuff is exceptional, and so are some of the drawings/paintings he posts on Instagram. His London show a few years back was superb. But I can also understand why some people aren't grabbed by it. That's the nature of art, and his is a bit sanctimonious sometimes. For some reason there has always been a hyper/hater battle on here, which is tiresome, confusing and unnecessary.
Anyway, for some reason and despite originals being well out of my range I got the email the other day. Today's follow-up appears to have got lost somewhere. It's probably disappeared into an email folder I don't know about, which is presumably what also happened to the GDP one.

Pejac NY Show, by witchdoctor on Nov 13, 2019 14:12:38 GMT 1, Its like stocks. Sometimes the analyzers says "sell", and when they have loaded up the say "buy". I think a lot of the brokers have sold a lot now to reduce risc and cash in. I think that if Pejacs show in New York hits people likewice hard as the show in London, Venice and Paris did, Pejac pricec right now will look retrospectively cheap. If the show flops theese prices will look extremely hyped.
Very exited to see how much Pejac and Max is putting into the NY show, hope to go at the opening for once, and fingers crossed for it too be one of the highligts of 2019.

"there is many of you and only seven works" or "since demand are stronger than ever" "the faster the better" let the art speak, you are not selling a financial founds! At least Max answers when you contact him - might not like the answer but you get one. I recently contact galleries that won't event respond to my art enquiries... Either you like it or not, he says the truth... there are more than 7 collectors that want to buy an Original from Pejac and pricing is super fair considering those drawings sell for more than 10k โฌ on the Secondary. No, this is not an assumption - I know this for a fact. Those 7 artworks he offered will be sold today... I am 100% sure.
Pejac is one of my favorite artists. Yes, I do own some editions and also own two Originals. This is not about hyping him to keep my "invest" safe - I just like his art that's it... but it seems art has become more and more of an investment thing because of the zero interest rates and kids tend to make a quick flip and take some serious cash - I get that, it's ok - we all have to live with that. It will get harder and harder to acquire Originals from galleries from "hot" artists and prices will rise - look at the prices now for prints from source? 1k is not much nowadays - 5 years ago people would say 1k is nuts for a print...

Pejac NY Show, by pada1 on Nov 13, 2019 14:54:46 GMT 1, Everyone should value patience.
... to appreciate Art. ... to appreciate someone's opinion. ... to challenge his/her own opinion. ... to think before doing. That includes investing in Art if it's someone's thing, but also contributing to a public forum.
The more I push back my pulsion to buy/sell, the more I appreciate what I own and the process it took to get them in my hands.
Max's email is fine. Nothing to scream about. The artworks are nice and deserve to be in good home. A lot of thought and skills have been put in them. For some it's just paper, some others money. For me, it's Art, i.e. it's sole purpose to be appreciated and used as a base to educate myself.
I am not looking to preach anyone. But stepping back from the back and forth I read online is a breath of air.
Everyone should value patience.

Pejac NY Show, by drip on Nov 13, 2019 15:16:53 GMT 1, Some people expect a lot of artists. Their work can't increase in value year after year like houses. People want to be able to buy desirable art cheaply enough to be able to see their purchase price seem cheap the following year (or week). Art's always been like that, but the boom and bust aspect of it nowadays is insane. Treating art like stocks and shares. There has to be more to art than that.

Pejac NY Show, by elberto77 on Nov 13, 2019 16:16:32 GMT 1, I have only had good experiences with Max as well. Only discovered Pejacโs work two years ago and after inquiring about a few drawings that I liked I was able to buy one last year that I really love. Missed out on the past 3 print releases but that is just how it goes sometimes isnโt it. As far as the pricing is concerned I would take a Pejac original drawing over many similarly priced prints sold on here frequently any day of the week but that is of course personal taste and to each their own... Buying directly from the artist at least you know your money is going to someone you support which I always find important as well.
