BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Fast Eddie on Oct 2, 2019 16:23:54 GMT 1, I am kind of worried about the mismatch between the technology used on the site and what people with good programming skills can do to/with something like a shopify store. Ideally you'd fix it by having identification requirements for buyers, like cell phone and/or email verification. That would be important, even if they allocate supply via lottery. However, it is very easy to avoid for them in a case like this where it is a one-time launch. Get a basic shopify install at shop.site.com then at launch you redirect to another shop platform at anothershop.site.com All preparations of bots would simply go to waste. Use a simple "what is 5+2"-question to access and you halt it even more. And also, give information of a 4h timeframe for when the release is due so that its not only ppl with monitors and bots that have a chance to know, cause 4 weeks of F5 is way too rich for most of us that have to work. Would really enjoy one of those banksquait's, will be very interesting to see what happens to all of this! Good points. A decoy site deployed last minute would be good. Also a captcha. It is not hard to fool machines as long as you are not totally predictable.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Easy-Z on Oct 2, 2019 16:41:20 GMT 1, Genuine question. How many of you are wanting to purchase a piece because you're A, a collector, B, don't own a Banksy work and want your first or C, are hoping to make money out of this?! Reading some of the posts on this thread it's actually quite disappointing how many people are coming across quite greedy and aren't even trying to hide it. Why not just enjoy the art that Banksy and his team have produced, knowing proceeds from the sale are going to a good cause (as well as helping his legal case lol) As opposed to the displays by some people of pure greed?! The likelihood of it being A, B and C for most if they admit it or not is high. We all want to own a Banksy, especially those off us who don't have one. But there is zero way you can not fantasize of the thought of a $500 print becoming worth $50K (if you sell it or not).
The reality is NO ONE would be buying Banksy prints at current market value (10... 20.. 50K) because they are so in love with a catchy stencil they must have it at all costs. It only makes sense if it is a solid investment even if you never plan to sell.
Me, I would love a print because I could put it up, enjoy it daily, and would be item least likely for me to accidentally damage. I wouldn't ever sell unless I was upon very hard times. But knowing it is money in the bank, of course becomes part of the appeal.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Lord Lucas Roham on Oct 2, 2019 16:46:11 GMT 1, I am confident they know what they are doing, shopify is easy to bot, if I know this then everyone does. It is also an easy template for selling large volumes of of the same product like 20,000 posters or mugs which is probably all it will be used for. Whilst the whole affair is brilliantly placed as being tongue in cheek which is part of the brilliance of brand Banksy the sales will be conducted in a curated way as the lottery for sale ends V2 was and on-going sales of smaller editions of works and OGs are and always have been. It is beyond reality in my view to expect an artist who sells directly to those with the money and power items with large price tags to suddenly swamp the market with smaller numbered editions, sculptures and originals as it will cause mass damage. This is a serious business with a very friendly customer face and really worthy intentions, but it is business none the less. Anyone seriously concerned with the idea that a sneaker bot is going to snag someone a banksy flower thrower tiny edition triptyque or an edition of 5 sculpture is off their rocker frankly as it wont happen. The fallout for the market, ongoing primary sales and PC issues will be beyond what they can be bothered with. it is far too well organised and managed to allow that to happen. The perception is meant to be one of laid back attitude but the reality is the opposite. In addition more money can be raised from a lottery or raffle with almost no headache and a chance to "select" the winners more appropriately to at least minimise headaches. This is the most coherent post that I've read here in a long time. Perhaps since BONGO.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by ocean89 on Oct 2, 2019 17:04:57 GMT 1, Bots are working fine on shopify stores if the programmer knows the exact data fields of the check out process. If you add just a simple field like "type in banksy:" the bot needs to be re-programmed. Bots work fine at pages like supreme where you can analyze the checkout process. So it's not necessary to change the URL to lock out bots.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Deleted on Oct 2, 2019 17:10:28 GMT 1, that is why it would have been best to launch the site in tandem with the installation so that it was unannounced/unexpected.
Or wait until everyone knows, even people that didnt know you can buy Banksy stuff. Spread the marketing around via the news networks to everyone. Create the need and desire and greed of our consumer led society so millions can potentially get in on this?

-available and cheap location. -likelihood of onlookers seeing what's going on while they set up.
I wouldn't think too hard about it. Doubt it has anything to do with the London riots which actually kicked off in Tottenham
