BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by JW on Oct 2, 2019 21:40:28 GMT 1, I made the trip down this afternoon. Loved it, though I wish they used museum glass as my silly mug was reflected in a lot of my photos. Should have hung around until after dark but the constant smell of KFC was making me too hungry.
The Banksquiat print was a lot nicer in person than I expected. Looks like a matte finish. Whether that is the case for the edition remains to be seen I guess. Wonder what a black/grey "board" means?

The Banksquiat print was a lot nicer in person than I expected. Looks like a matte finish. Whether that is the case for the edition remains to be seen I guess. Wonder what a black/grey "board" means? It looks like it is signed in the screenprint, but not numbered or otherwise marked.
Overall, the quality of the work seems really, really high. I bet this is a lot of pent-up supply for Banksy. Some of these ideas he must have been holding on for years. Probably there are pieces carefully developed during the Dismaland period (maybe even this print) and some even earlier. The flammable sign in the fireplace reminds me of the piece for Robbo. There are several layers of themes in this material.
In terms of output this maybe the most significant effort since NYC in 2013.

To me it looks like the board stock is black with two screen printed colours applied. Cream and white including printed margin. The other version will be on grey board with same cream and white printing.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by fuqueuing on Oct 2, 2019 22:18:40 GMT 1, So I know everyone gets excited for a new banksy. But any thoughts on the art as art. Not all stunners for sure. Personally I'd put the Helmet, Tiger Rug and Baby Mobile in the stunner category. The inverted tail planes bombing into the portrait is quite cool too. Certainly not all stunners but given the brief it's meant to be taken as a whole. I'd say it's a success on par with any of his others.

The "planes"(drones) are taken from a similar piece at the hotel. W a picture of Jesus looking up as there is a laser red dot on his forehead. Cant see it in my pic, but there is an actual laser pointer in ceiling casting the beam onto his forehead.
