BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by FЯ on Oct 4, 2019 11:41:30 GMT 1, I find it hard to believe they are handing out free Banksy posters given they know they will be flipped. Just looking at last nights comment by Mr B on Instagram, it is obvious he is not super thrilled about the person who "flipped" the monkey parliament painting... And half the reason he stopped doing prints was the whole Choose your weapon print fiasco.... I think that Instagram post from banksy was quite quite odd Also considering he still makes money from auction sales

I think that Instagram post from banksy was quite quite odd I thought so too but one thought that occurred to me last night was that perhaps the seller of the monkey parliament piece was a gallery or museum/institution such as Bristol Museum, therefore the piece was transferring from an owner where it could potentially have been on public view to a private owner locked away.
Or maybe its just a veneer of distaste at the art world system to paint himself as still an outsider..

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Deleted on Oct 4, 2019 11:56:42 GMT 1, What's the URL to sign up please? That screenshot is just the default content for a closed/hidden shopify shop. It doesn't mean that they're planning to use that notification email list for anything. Presumably if they wanted to ask people to sign up, it would be active now and more prominent. But they've chosen to hide it instead. In summary, no point in signing up to it. You can still see it if you have some CSS / HTML skills ;-)

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by loother on Oct 4, 2019 12:29:20 GMT 1, I'm at the store now. Obviously there's some great stuff behind the windows but absolutely the best thing about it is observing the reactions of the random cross-section of Croydon society who happen to be here with me. It is incredibly successful at catching the attention of passers-by, provoking reactions and initiating conversations between complete strangers. The security guard characters are very chatty and help to encourage this atmosphere. I can't think of another artwork/collection/installation/whatever-this-is that I have seen which has been so successful at involving people who obviously have no wider interest in art/installations/whatever-this-ises. For this reason, and even though the daylight makes it almost impossible to take decent photos, I'd encourage people if possible to come during shopping hours.
No freebies though, sadly.

Agreed. I was there yesterday afternoon and noticed the same. It is almost impossible to get any decent pictures in daylight, but it was great to look into the windows, but also observe from a distance. I did this for about an hour before leaving shortly before the posters were handed out 😂

Well said. Just left and it was a lovely atmosphere. No shoving, no big queue, everyone being friendly and polite and enjoying the spectacle.
Several things I didn’t notice from just looking at photos, like the balaclava lamp and the fact the wooden toy refugees include a doctor and a scientist.
I noticed a spelling error on one of his signs so I’m going to write a sternly worded letter. Anyone have Banksy’s address?

Great at connecting the otherwise simple/normal idea and merging into an intriguing art concept.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by zefarrett on Oct 4, 2019 12:54:14 GMT 1, This is definitely a cool follow, but the nyc “residency” might have been the best month ever. I’m not sure Banksy can ever top the fun that came from that. Just day after day of new art being found whenever. Crazy people stealing things. Other people blocking art and demanding money for pictures. As well as commentary to go along with it. Absolutely fucking brilliant and thrilling!
