BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by nex on Oct 8, 2019 15:19:11 GMT 1, So what are people’s favourite piece and why? For me head and shoulders above everything is the early learning centre ‘piece’. Wonderfully observed on both a grim real world perspective and as a child’s toy. Reflecting people running from trouble and also sentiment surrounding so many populist narratives carting off those that are ‘different’ . This is art.

Not necessarily "deep", but aesthetically it's one of my favorite prints he has ever done.

The lamp for me. Nothing too clever about it but just looks really cool!

I have to restrain my self on commenting on the whole legal suit, but there is so much to say about this.

It's snuggled up in the folder at the moment - soon to the framers.
The colours don't look that great in this photo, it's better in life.

Who will keep showing up after everything has been sold in .000000003 seconds, or spoken for in a lottery when you can just IG # every angle of every image from the comfort of your own toilet?

Although people will be able to visit the store for the next two weeks, its doors will never open and the lights will remain on 24 hours a day. www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/banksy-opens-homeware-store-after-card-company-legal-dispute-38551876.htmlApparently it's over a legal battle for the trademark of his name... if it's true - quite mad Any legal bods on here think this is more about setting a lawful precedent to easily block unauthorised exhibitions (namely the tat merch they sell) rather than just fighting Full Colour Black?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by GMA on Oct 8, 2019 18:43:27 GMT 1, En route to the shop and got my daughter with me, I said to her "Daddas going to London to see some art by Banksy, do you wanna come with me or go to childminders" "I wanna come to Londonnnnnnn" And so the adventure begins. Just about made the 930 train. Quite nice actually, just me and my daughter on a nice day out. My wife was well jealous hahah she was like "ohhhh I wanna see it too" sorry girl, you got work. Lol How has gone for Both of you! Really interested in your shared experience!! I'm popping down there tomorrow (Child Free), Weds around 1pm-2pm So we just got back, we left at about 0930 this morning from Temple Meads and arrived at GDP around 1215 ish, we took the train from Paddington to Victoria and then to East Croydon, it's about a ten minute walk from East Croydon and there's a BoxPark nearby with as**tload of places to eat..
...within a matter of arriving one of the security guys (Ben was his name, lovely chap) popped over and said "Are you GMA?" which I instantly thought "WTF!" to which I said, yeah I am, how do you know! Anyway he then asked if my daughter had received a poster yet, and then popped back with one for her, which was a really nice gesture. At the time there was a bunch of school kids who had clearly came during their lunch break to get one, they all looked pretty happy with receiving one each. I safely tucked it into our bag and we started to have a look at the pieces on display.
After having a look for a bit, I was then approached by someone else, "Are you GMA?" Woah, wtf is going on today hahah, yes I am, and I bumped into ShopKeeper, who was really friendly and approachable, great to meet and lovely to have a chat with someone from the forum!
The first time we walked around, I spent time taking pictures to capture it all, which was really difficult in the daylight. The reflection was a bit of a nightmare for photos, but when you place your face up against the glass and covered your forehead with your hands to peer in, you could see no problem. You could see a lot of it anyway, it's just not as clear as at night from the pictures I've seen. The second time around was to spend time looking at the actual pieces with my own eyes and not through a lens.
All of the pieces look great up close and personal, there are some amazing pictures on here but I think you need to see the works in the flesh if you can. Banksquiat for me really stood out, it looked a lot bigger than I was expecting! Thrower was also another stand out piece for me, I'm curious to see if Banksy will continue using this new method he mentions in the description card, but an iconic piece for sure.
I really enjoyed Goldfish too, there was something about it that just got my attention with the way the fish seems to be wanting to dive into the picture of the sea but is held hostage in a fish bowl. I loved the Cushions, I can't stand that wanky bollocks that people have in their homes which says stuff like "Bath" above the bath, "Love" above the bed, so this did make me laugh.
The Rug was my daughters favourite (the 2nd being Goldfish), I asked her what she thought and she said "He's had too much sugar" Fantastic answer, she knows and is aware. It's disgusting to think that kids under 5 have had to have tooth extractions, quite ludicrous really so it was great to see this piece raising awareness of that.
Life Jacket and Early Learning Counting Set were also very thought provoking, they really put things into perspective and got me thinking about some of the horrendous situations some of these people have to go through just to live.
The Banksy cans looked cool, I could see myself have a few on a shelf, whether that's achievable or not is another story.
Overall, a great display, one I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and I'm pleased I went!\
**Edit, it was ShopKeeper, not HappyShopper
