BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by fuqueuing on Oct 8, 2019 18:52:50 GMT 1, How has gone for Both of you! Really interested in your shared experience!! I'm popping down there tomorrow (Child Free), Weds around 1pm-2pm ...within a matter of arriving one of the security guys (Ben was his name, lovely chap) popped over and said "Are you GMA?" which I instantly thought "WTF!" to which I said, yeah I am, how do you know! Glad it was a successful outing. Was it the rat poster? So, erm, how DID he know?

Glad it was a successful outing. Was it the rat poster? So, erm, how DID he know? Hah, good question, he said he saw on the forum. But then ShopKeeper turned up a little while after so not sure if he had something to do with it Either way, it was quite a surprise to have that happen... twice! Lovely guys though, really chatty and thoroughly engaged with the display. A lot of people were spending time reading the cards and taking it all in, there were some that were just walking and taking snaps which you could tell were going to be for instagram or just rocking up with that "where's the posters at" look on their faces, but all very friendly, no trouble, no dramas. Just people enjoying the display.
*Edit, we didn't open the poster until we got home, and yes, it was the rat poster. A nice keepsake.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by stillborncrisps on Oct 8, 2019 19:07:44 GMT 1, So what are people’s favourite piece and why? For me head and shoulders above everything is the early learning centre ‘piece’. Wonderfully observed on both a grim real world perspective and as a child’s toy. Reflecting people running from trouble and also sentiment surrounding so many populist narratives carting off those that are ‘different’ . This is art. The cushions are the winner for me. Something I've been feeling for a long time but haven't been able to express it quite so so lolsomely.
Live, Love, Laugh.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by GMA on Oct 8, 2019 19:34:21 GMT 1, Nice to hear people going and getting the next generation involved I think if that’s the only thing that comes of this then it’s a job well done Me and my missus are big art fans, and have always enjoyed going out to see different galleries and exhibitions. When we first met, we were keen on eachother due to a passion for music, it wasn't until we started getting to know eachother that we realised we both enjoyed art and started taking eachother to different works, mainly at the Tate and Design Museum, but it was thrilling to find someone with similar interests.
From that, we encourage our daughter to get involved too and definitely favour pens, paints and paper over ipads. I love hearing her thinking on something, even at the young age of 3, nearly 4, it's really interesting to see her little brain tick when she see's art, especially some of the stuff by Banksy as she realises something is a miss, something isn't quite right about it, seeing a toy from her dreamy childhood wonderland with it's head shoved in a glass and a bit of plastic stuck around it's neck, it makes her ask questions. One example after seeing the Rug ... "Daddy" "Yes sweetpea" "Why are all his teeth broken" "Have a look around and think about it" She then gazed at it for a while, looked at the other objects nearby and said "He's eaten too much sugar".
Who knows, she may grow up and have no real interest in it once she's older, we all change, we all want our kids to be into certain things but it doesn't always happen. The least we can do is give them new an exciting experiences and hope they latch onto some.

How far do you live from there? If you can see it tomorrow and then another time at night. Theres a holiday inn about 30 seconds walk away, if I'd known that I might have booked a night on Monday eve so see it in both lights. But you'll have a great time no matter what. There was a nice buzz about it.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by josephwillis123 on Oct 8, 2019 20:36:08 GMT 1, Envious of all the people seeing the work in person. Seems like its is going smoothly and people are getting to enjoy it through the windows at their own pace! I'm taking solace in knowing I will see some of his work next month at the Walled-off Hotel. Staying in the barracks, but it's such a unique experience I had to plan it. I posted in another topic, but if anyone has some walled-off advice, or suggestions of what to do in the area feel free to PM them to me. Already messaged Alaa Taxi to get something set up for one of the days. (solo traveler, so tips are always welcome!) I've got my fingers crossed that some UAAers grab some pieces in whatever fashion they drop!

A wage and get to keep the jackets I reckon sorry I have to disagree with you. They deserve a gift print. As some are taking advantage and selling them for a grand on eBay they are securing the site 24/7 a poster that some people are selling will be there whole wage more or less after tax for two weeks work. Anyway if I was banksy I'd give them a reward. Shame I cannot make the event but loving the write ups on a twice daily basis in between breaks day trading on the GDP alongside other currencies.

I too remember the eBay listing, presumably where Reinking acquired it.
I considered buying it myself believing it to be real, but didn't as, well, it's crap isn't it.
Very early work if Reinking is to be believed, he has it catalogued as created in 1995.
