Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by nobokov on Oct 24, 2021 16:53:55 GMT 1, Overseen by the artist...Can you imagine him flying to Texas to observe the copy room shaking his head at the insufficient level of contrast. After 280 complaints from Nara, the copyboy leaps into a lengthy tirade, "Why don't you fucking press the Print button yourself, you depressed art fuck!"
These are pretty much just expensive posters that they slap a "limited edition" label to get the lower castes to buy so that they feel like they're participating in higher caste activities. Prints in general, are for suckers. Unsigned inkjet prints are for the bigger fools. The luster's dulled on regular prints so print houses these days need artists to doodle a few dots on the print to make them "unique."
The first rule of Print Club is to pretend that its artwork. It's not. Maybe unless the artist creates the print themselves without any assistance. Even then, artist created prints are mostly pretty shitty. Just look at Jasper John's prints. I've bought too many prints over the years to realize what an utter waste of money it was and is.
With this thread all about the fomo and slobbering over potential resale prices. It's the same for NFTs. And as with NFTs, buyers have to convince other buyers of their value so they can unload before it's too late. So this thread like all others will be full of glowing praise from those who bought. And they'll do it using multiple accounts. Just look at the other Nara poster threads and see how that turned out.
"It's artist approved" "It's a real authorized limited edition!" "It's his most iconic image." "Did you see how much his unsigned posters and dish sold for at auction?"
Congrats to those who bought it and were able to find the next chump. For those who bought it on the secondary, you know the saying, a fool and their money. Luckily there's a sucker born every day otherwise this entire art pyramid collapses.

Where does salty cry baby belong on this pyramid?
So are you hanging yours or how will you title your listing "un-signed?" It's okay to admit that they're shitty. It's not your fault.

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by eureka on Oct 24, 2021 18:02:09 GMT 1, Obviously this print has different value to different people, and that's is nice and welcome. However, what's amazing in this thread is the hype some users are creating based on "I know a friend who bought at XX, I have cousin who is willing to pay YYY, etc".
I could say I have a cousin who is willing to pay 200k, but that is not a provable evidence, it just tries to create hype. Indeed this is not different at all from what happens daily in the NFT space.
Definitely part of the fun of art collecting/investing.

I think there's only different value, because those who value it higher are uninformed. There's so much money being thrown around by the clueless these days. Everyone's trying to create value out of nothing and trying to entice the uninformed to bite. The art market is a gross place filled with deception and jealousy. I wonder if the bubble will ever burst.

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by nobokov on Oct 24, 2021 19:32:33 GMT 1, Thinking that any comments on the UAA forum have an impact on the global Nara market Absolute top tier lolz Lads we are just here debating our views , ainโt nobody listening No one's talking about the real Nara art market though, which would be about his originals.
We're talking about printouts here for donations and flips. UAA is all about the printouts and UAA does move the market for copies. If you had a buyer's list, you'd have to think the majority are UAA viewers and members.

Then get a buyers list from top tier auction houses that these will be selling at for x times more than cost price in a year. Will be very different.

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by qest on Oct 25, 2021 0:28:31 GMT 1, Overseen by the artist...Can you imagine him flying to Texas to observe the copy room shaking his head at the insufficient level of contrast. "It's artist approved" "It's a real authorized limited edition!" "It's his most iconic image." "Did you see how much his unsigned posters and dish sold for at auction?" Congrats to those who bought it and were able to find the next chump. For those who bought it on the secondary, you know the saying, a fool and their money. Luckily there's a sucker born every day otherwise this entire art pyramid collapses. I always appreciate your iconoclastic takes, even where I may not agree. We should all think more critically about our purchases and the value we place on these silly things, and at least for me, your comments spur welcome reflection.

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by Jimini Cricket on Oct 25, 2021 2:34:58 GMT 1, Some food for thought..
Just say the MSRP was priced to market $8000, similar to the PACE Robin F Williams situation and her $12500 prints.
Would you feel as bad for missing out? Would you still want these? Reading between the lines here, you guys just want that sweet, sweet easy flip money. D'uh.

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by nobokov on Oct 25, 2021 16:28:34 GMT 1, Overseen by the artist...Can you imagine him flying to Texas to observe the copy room shaking his head at the insufficient level of contrast. After 280 complaints from Nara, the copyboy leaps into a lengthy tirade, "Why don't you fucking press the Print button yourself, you depressed art fuck!" These are pretty much just expensive posters that they slap a "limited edition" label to get the lower castes to buy so that they feel like they're participating in higher caste activities. Prints in general, are for suckers. Unsigned inkjet prints are for the bigger fools. The luster's dulled on regular prints so print houses these days need artists to doodle a few dots on the print to make them "unique." The first rule of Print Club is to pretend that its artwork. What a very nice thing to say, I really appreciate the kind words.

I don't know and I don't care, I was just correcting misinformation that it was sold.
Why would someone offer higher than what the Buy it now price was? That's just a bit daft.

Or accepted a lower offer and sold to avoid the fees.
