Society has handed down his punishment. How he and his girlfriend have dealt with it on personal levels is none of your business. Nobody is perfect and whilst there's no excuses for what happened I'm fairly confident all those involved are wanting to put it behind them and move on.
Presumably all those who think it's their place to get involved never deal with anyone other than the whitest of white.
Buy his art, or don't.

If he wants to put it behind him then he and all of the repugnant galleries he deals with need to publicly address it. Which they won't, because they're greedy.

If you read my post, I don't take it lightly or dismiss easily. Nor do I defend the actions. If he's sorry and if he's served his punishment then it's not your place to continue castigating him. Fair enough if you don't want to buy his art but he's still entitled to make a living from it. That's how our society works.
And as for labelling this particular gallery repugnant and greedy, you couldn't be more wrong about them. I don't have to explain to you why. I just know.

He has done nothing publicly to atone for his actions. Galleries continue to enable him through selling his releases. The next time he drinks and beats someone it's on you and them for enabling him.
As a member of society I am able to make my voice heard and make others aware that he should be blacklisted. See how that works?

Buy hey - i guess some people like hitler's artwork or artwork from covicted murderers so each to their own...

Clearly the same.
Those who have a problem with him having a mental lapse and paying his debt to society wasn't enough in their eyes....then just don't buy. Just spare me with the self righteous crap.

Make Your Voice Heard, by kapusta on Oct 11, 2019 19:01:02 GMT 1, Drama aside, I'm tired of artists, including Eine, creating derivative work throughout their entire career. I bought Eine's "Modern Art" neon letter print back in 2015 (at a higher price than this release when he was more relevant). Yet he's still producing neon letter prints years later with no real evolution. It's dull. As someone who used to really enjoy Eine's work, it's frustrating to see an artist tread the same ground over and over and over.
There's other typographic artists who explore and expand their work in interesting ways โ like Gary Stranger. It can be done, and it can be recognizable. Eine's crutch is the same damn fonts every time. The dude needs to change it up. This stagnation is partly why he's lost his rep. And then there's his behavioral problems...

Totally agree with your frustration. Sadly alot of the artist you favoured at the time have stood still with there art. Eine hasn't changed really from his first outing. Don't get me wrong I like and appreciate his work/style but he will never be a guy you can invest in. 9 out of 10 pieces of his will de value. He does not care as he is making his bread and butter.. People buying a eine work now buy be use value is irrelevant, enjoy the art for art sake, possibly.

Make Your Voice Heard, by ab3 on Oct 12, 2019 10:16:40 GMT 1, This makes interesting reading. We've got a couple of Ben Eine's works (including a very personalised one of his lenticular letters spelling out our surname) and really like them. We met him at the Art Yard sale in Brighton in 2017 and had a nice chat with him.
I wanted to fact check this thread and read about it on his Wikipedia page yesterday. When I went to tell my wife about it this morning and checked the page, the section on assault conviction had been removed overnight. Read into that what you will.
I think this is a tricky one and depends on how you feel about this subject and I suppose if it's affected you personally. I'm still going to enjoy his art as I still enjoy listening to James Brown, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N Roses (Slash & Axle Rose), Public Enemy (Flavour Flav) and watching Star Wars (Billy Dee Williams), Goonies (Josh Brolin), Edward Scissorhands (Johny Depp), The Rock (Nickolas Cage) and even Evel Knievel & Vanilla Ice. (Amongst many others).
Not saying that what he's admitted happened was right in any way shape or form, it's 100% not. But personally I think Maven summed it up perfectly by saying 'Ignore people's advice. If you like it, buy it. Best way!'
People must be allowed to move on from mistakes and get on with their lives.
Enjoy your art and lets all learn from this.

Make Your Voice Heard, by Jaylove on Oct 12, 2019 12:05:07 GMT 1, One thing some have to realize is each edition has a limited amount for most artists. Many fans are still unable to get a print on release day so continuing to put out similar works enables fans to get something. If you love this style of lettering but weโre unable to get โModern Artโor โSohoโ this opens the door for you to get something here. Missed out on a dface? Canโt afford secondary market? Donโt worry, heโs going to put out something similar so his fans get another chance at one.
This is why I think artists come out with the same stuff. Also itโs their bread and butter. At the end of the day thry want to get paid and thry already have a formula that has worked in the past.
Just my take. You may be tired of it, but not to the guy that has been trying to find something similar
One thing some have to realize is each edition has a limited amount for most artists.

He stuck it up on his IG for those that want to see it.

Make Your Voice Heard, by eskay on Nov 15, 2019 13:02:46 GMT 1, Another "gallery" that continues to work with a man convicted of punching his wife in the head. There is no such thing as shame when profit is concerned. I have one two of his prints, should I be ashamed that I still like them and they continue to hang in my house? Should museums & galleries be removing their Picassos? Can you elaborate on why this is of such great concern to you and how you know so much about where he is currently at mentally?
Also, would you ever hire a reformed criminal?

The writing is already on their wall with their campaigns against most women in museum being nude. What makes you think Ben Eine is reformed or has undergone treatment? I've seen no evidence suggesting he is.

Ironic how you talk mockingly of SJWs, yet here you are doing the same..
