Art Basel โข Miami, Hong Kong, Paris, by nobokov on Dec 7, 2019 0:30:10 GMT 1, I liked her work when it was politically charged in the past. Now the work just seems frivolous with basketballs and snoopy. I hope she goes back to meaningful work rather than commercial output.

Was really disappointed in these prints in person. All the white offsets look like mistakes in the screens shifting, if they were intentional they look terrible. Doesn't really reflect her original work in that sense.
Agreed on those white offsets - they are bad (and unfortunately intentional).

Art Basel โข Miami, Hong Kong, Paris, by Easy-Z on Dec 7, 2019 3:53:07 GMT 1, So Martin Whatson does free hidden art drops all week. Chased em like hell last year with no luck. Well today he dropped a piece for Hama Woods. Well I was already in south beach after missing the Martin drop earlier. Saw the post. Rented a city bike and off I went. Dug around all the bushes twice and almost gave up.

Art Basel โข Miami, Hong Kong, Paris, by kwatis on Dec 7, 2019 14:46:18 GMT 1, Correct me if I'm wrong, but these aren't screenprints. I believe they are woodblock prints.
The white offsets that people keep discussing are from the inked up wood shapes being printed and not butting right up against the other shapes. Think of it like a puzzle, where each piece's surface is inked up separately and the reassembled. Only the pieces weren't cut by machine, but by hand so they don't seemlessly fit back together.
It's an intrinsic part of the medium. It being a woodblock print is also a reasoning for the price hike (that and it's PACE and Nina).
Since PACE has facilities and masterprinters in all of the different print subcategories (intaglio/etching/engraving, relief/woodblock, collograph, stone/plate lithography, screenprinting, monotype/monoprint) they are able to offer a wider range of techniques to their artists.
I, personally, think that this technique suits Nina's work quite well.

Agreed, definitely think that Tandem's approach has more precision. And love seeing the work Tandem has put out over the years. A good friend of mine and colleague while in graduate school is one of the printers that worked with Derrick at Tandem. You'd expect that from PACE as well. Wonder if it was the artists choice so as to look more "collaged" and referencial of her painting style/approach?

Thanks for the info, thats a funky technique and I appreciate the artistry behind it but I can't get past the fact that it looks terrible. It would bug me to no end if I had to look at it everyday.

Speaking to Artnet, the Italian artist explained how he struggled to finish the piece of work for more than a year, before the revelation finally struck. โWherever I was travelling I had this banana on the wall. I couldnโt figure out how to finish it,โ he said. โIn the end, one day I woke up and I said โthe banana is supposed to be a bananaโ.โ
Heโs a cool guy, lived in apt above mine in NYC in mid/late 90s. Other cool guy living above me prior in a different building Joey Ramone, saw him in elevator regularly and once he overflowed his bathtub, flooding mine.

I will be in Basel if anyone wants to meet up. Please send me a DM and we can coordinate. I will be based out of the Wynwood Walls at the Peter Tunney Gallery. Have a great weekend - Jon
Thanks for the tour Jon. It was great to meet you in person.

Art Basel โข Miami, Hong Kong, Paris, by docean on Dec 9, 2019 19:46:20 GMT 1, Met Shepard Fairey, so that was pretty cool.
Art Miami and Context were fun. Basel was, Basel. Enjoyed seeing a curated collection of Miamiโs most basic b*tches line up 30 deep for a selfie with a banana.
Scope was terrible IMO. They let in far too many people at once and it was impossible to walk around. I guess thatโs the downside of going on a Saturday rather than my usual Tuesday night.

Daniel Silk โข The number or Boards and Threads continues to fall as we simplify the layout of the forum.
Daniel Silk โข I hear a lot of Artists complaining about Instagram in the past year, how it used to be a good tool for Artists, but it's not good anymore, is that true?
anyaart โข For Brett Kern fans, I noticed there is a spinosaurus for sale on E-Bay. It's a limited edition, one of only 60 made. This is the rarest of his dinosaurs. I am not the seller. I already have the same dino purchased in 2016. I've never seen one up for sale
Daniel Silk โข Apology โข Sorry I have been offline this past few weeks, due to a very bad Fever. I'm slowly getting better, step by step, and catching up with things here on the forum on the days I'm well enough. Thank you for your understanding.
Boy Wonder โข I read that they were more or less nicked the same day they went up. Loads of fakes exist.
milou2 โข Would love to see any photos of Banksy's first exhibition at the Severnshed in Bristol (2000). Who was there?*
jirr โข Hi all, over here in the states. Pandemic put me out of business, need to sell this asap. Please send offers thanks so much
matgab โข Steven Harrington - Gotcha first ed for sale.
1nkling โข I can't help but think that a more reasonable tier for people who just want to support the work you guys do would raise more income. Then other tiers for those that want specialist benefits.
1nkling โข As soon as I saw the heading for the email I thought 'Oh yeah, I use that place a lot. I'd happily support it'. Not at ยฃ40 a month though. I have a paid sub for a Formula 1 site I use that is very active. They have a high uptake on subs at ยฃ12 a year.
1nkling โข Pricing on the new supporters sub seems a bit poorly thought out. ยฃ40 a month to have a pinned sale thread being the only listed benefit?
Daniel Silk โข The forum now has more than half the number of Boards than it had a year ago! As we work towards simplifying the layout.
ashj52 โข Hi everyone; does anyone know where I may be able to find a George condo prism print? Any guidance on price would also be much appreciated! I contacted AA, they said they cannot disclose whether there will be any further drops this year.
