Banksy Welcome Mat, by rosac on Sept 21, 2020 20:08:17 GMT 1, I'll take a guess at the logic here: "Because if an unsigned print can sell for 6 figures, and unsigned doormat can sell for 6 figures eventually."
Just wondered if production had stopped really

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Icesay on Sept 21, 2020 20:10:56 GMT 1, How many could you make a day? 10, 20? Surprised there hasn't been a new batch given its for a good reason. Maybe Covid has decimated the place where they are made, seems worryingly quiet.

Large fires have ripped through many of the camps. It’s tragic.

It really is. It looks truly bleak with winter looming and Covid 19 making a reappearance.

I agree and said it months ago. Imho a very underpriced B piece considering how strong of a piece it is in terms of where, how and why it’s made.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by That Print Guy on Sept 22, 2020 19:50:24 GMT 1, Personally I find it a bit sickening that so many are being sold on ebay considering the cause they are trying to raise money for. fortunately prior to private individuals purchasing art and posting their privately owned goods for resale on eBay, the charity collected all the money they intended to from the goods they produced! Thought that might brighten your day a little considering how sick you were feeling after looking at eBay

There is a waiting list on LW for future batches.
Batch 1 had the tag sewn to the back (as opposed to a hang tag)

To make things more confusing, some of the first batch have numbers above 500

Do you think there’s any chance of the first run getting a coa. I’m looking to buy one and I’m not sure if to wait for one from the first batch I would wait and buy from source but it’s not going to go on forever

Buy from source and focus on what your purchase will do for the refugees rather than value 🙃
I don’t think any will get COA’s

I’m looking to buy one and I’m not sure if to wait for one from the first batch I would wait and buy from source but it’s not going to go on forever From the get-go it was stated on the Love Welcomes website that no COA would be issued by Pest Control for the Welcome Mats. Why would they change their minds now? What a massive headache that would be to manage. And why only the first 500? I think they only switched to hang tags instead of sewn tags to speed up the process. Whether the first batch is worth more than the subsequent ones is up to you really. It's like placing more value on a lower number of an edition (or an AP) as far as I'm concerned. In the end it's still a 'Welcome Mat'. I think your only dilemma is whether you want to try your luck at buying it from source at cost and risk not receiving the 'invitation' or buy it on the secondary market and pay a premium.

Money You mean money income for Pest Control for issuing the certificates? If that's the case I see what you're saying but I'd like to think they're going through the trouble of issuing them to filter the genuine stuff from the fakes and not only for financial gain. The thought of managing that data bank and keeping it up to date with the artworks changing hands makes me want to bang my head on a wall imbedded with tiny shards of glass...

And, it’s not perceived as "official" in the way it looks. But whatever. With the framing, I’m letting the tag hang and it’s cool.
I’m with some others on here... buy for the story, cause, and meaning and because you like it not for the resale. No shade if that’s a consideration but can’t be primary reason/motivation. I love mine and don’t ever plan on selling.
...
unless of course another pandemic hits and prices somehow get stupid again and I need the money. Then, I might reconsider. Until then, I’m proud of it.

What do you mean by "it’s not perceived as "official" in the way it looks"? “perceived” is the operative word for sure and certainly a subjective statement. And now, googling the original, I see it’s the same tag! Man... the way I remembered the original was with super stark white label with block letters and boxes with different info in them. But looking at it again, it’s the same tag for the most part. Haha. Perception is tricky.
I guess I was thinking because the tag is hanging, etc. I stand corrected.
either way... I absolutely love ours.

I love mine and don’t ever plan on selling. ... unless of course another pandemic hits and prices somehow get stupid again and I need the money. Then, I might reconsider. Until then, I’m proud of it. Thanks for the advice I’ll hang on until the next drop and if I miss that one I’ll see what’s out there if they are the same price I’ll probably go for one from the first batch if I can get it
Buy from source and focus on what your purchase will do for the refugees rather than value 🙃 I don’t think any will get COA’s I was slightly disappointed at the tag change when mine came in but just because it was unexpected.
