Banksy Welcome Mat, by Rubberneck on Oct 21, 2019 22:23:36 GMT 1, Hm. A logistics partner is not limited to shipping companies. Logistic partners can be anyone coordinating a shipment including people packing and labeling. The GDP labels still need to be placed on the mats. It's quite possible that these ship to GDP, they place the GDP labels on them, then ship them with everything else they are shipping.
Mmm I think they would ship the labels to the mats and not the other way round.. .. 1 parcel less than 2kgs vs an 18 wheel truck 🤔

Again this is all speculation on my part. :-) I just think it's unreasonable to assume that PC/GDP won't be given our information and there are easy ways around GDPR in this case but maybe I am wrong.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by iamzero on Oct 21, 2019 22:59:56 GMT 1, I can’t believe some are suggesting that GDP point people towards buying a mat that will not get Pest Control in the interest of helping a cause but then excluded you from from buying the actual thing like the print you were hoping for. What bollocks. Some people on here are plain nuts.

Agreed +1. Dumb to think that someone donating to charity would be punished. Unless he had something special planned for the mats

I can see that too. That's the most likely outcome. I do feel like there was something odd about how the mat was sold/described though. I wouldn't be shocked if there was a twist to come for those who bought one.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Winter on Oct 21, 2019 23:41:16 GMT 1, As we're dissecting every possible element of this mat has anyone raised the question of what the overall material is? From pictures I've seen it looks like it could be coconut which is an incredibly exciting material. To help you all understand just how exciting it is I thought I'd share this with you - be sure to read it to the end, it even has maintenance tips! Don't mention it.
Coconut “Coir” Matting
Coir is a natural fibre that is extracted from the husk of a coconut. The husk is soaked in water for several months and is then beaten to soften up the cellulose fibres. A hard yarn is then produced that is spun by hand.
With its high level of lignin, the coconut coir is considered as one of the strongest natural fibres to date. Coir, being a tough and sturdy material, makes an excellent flooring option especially in high traffic areas.
Benefits of using Coconut Matting Coconut matting has multiple advantages, with key features that make it the perfect natural flooring solution for home and commercial purposes:
Hard wearing Coconut mats are extremely durable and can withstand repeated use. Also weather resistant, they can resist fungal and bacterial growth - this means that mildew and mould is less likely. Water Resistant
Coir has hydroscopic properties with the ability to absorb moisture in the air, which effectively creates a balance in the room’s atmosphere. Eco-Friendly and Affordable
Coir is a natural and biodegradable product that undergoes minimal processing. Unlike synthetic flooring alternatives, no harmful chemicals are used in its production. Additionally, coir matting is considerably cheaper compared with other mats.
Low Maintenance Requiring minimal effort, the occasional hand washing with a mild soap and water solution will help to prolong the mats lifespan.

I wouldn't be shocked if there was a twist to come for those who bought one. Eh, a twist is possible but I think it's more likely that the plan/plans changed as things started moving along quickly. For example, the cushions...they were originally listed as limited and I think $50. Now I think they are unlimited and $150.
I just think they probably underestimated the demand for everything, including the mats, and their team wants to empower the charity to continue manufacturing them so the shift to unlimited happened and the GDP label is as the charity mentioned, so you know it's genuine. It's why I also think the mats will probably ship to GDP for at least the first run. I'm sure any authorized label they'll want to keep a solid chain of custody of until they can figure out the best way to handle as people really do fake everything.
There's a lot going on with this sale. I'm betting they haven't even designed the label yet and probably not too much a rush because these are going to take some time to manufacture as they are all created by hand.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Rouen Cathedral on Oct 22, 2019 0:05:44 GMT 1, Sooo does this really classify as a banksy work?
Or is it just a designed by banksy home ware product?
If banksys name wasn’t attached to these they would get the “oh that’s pretty cool - I’d donate $100 to get one and use it at my house and share the story with my visitors”. Now that they are banksy art it gets the “oh man what value. How should I frame this up? So collectible. Flip it!”

A welcome mat, made from the discarded life-jackets of unwelcome refugees.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Terry Fuckwitt on Oct 22, 2019 0:29:52 GMT 1, Name and shame, happily call them a c**talso Pointless to name and he's already shamed himself. There may well be other grounds for holding back. But of the two you've cited, I am unclear about the reasoning for the first, and would qualify the second. 1. Pointless to nameWhy so? To name someone who's taken part in what could be deemed repellent behaviour — like profiteering off the back of a CIC (community interest company) project — is to shine a light on them. When people have a financial interest in behaving dishonourably, yet nevertheless refrain from doing so, it's typically for one of two principal reasons. Either: (i) they are honourable; or (ii) they dread the consequences (including reputational damage) of being seen to act dishonourably. For those who find themselves in group (ii), the risk of being openly accused can therefore serve as an effective deterrent. Now, one of your objectives might be to discourage the kind of behaviour you've described above. If that is the case, then there is a logic to naming individual transgressors. Publicity is justly commended as a remedy for social and industrial diseases. Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman. — Louis Brandeis 2. he's already shamed himselfNo disagreement here. However, in the context of "name and shame", the verb "shame" refers less to an individual's shameful behaviour than to the penalty it should incur. That penalty is a social one — shaming. And it's the public nature of shaming which is crucial. If everyone were kept ignorant about the identity of those who behaved poorly, then there'd be no real incentive for transgressors to stop. What it would also say to others who lack scruples is that they too can do the same, without fear of scrutiny — and without fear of being held publicly accountable. Such a message would be unfortunate, in my view. __________ Presumably, you were referring to the eB ayer, trainerhype, an account I wasn't familiar with: feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=trainerhypeI don't know who trainerhype is on this message board. But based on their completed eB ay sales, it doesn't seem unfair to suggest they appear unburdened by decency. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/trainerhype/m.html?LH_Complete=1
I totally understand where you are coming from, but I personally don't like to snitch on people. There is also a slim possibility that I could be wrong, so therefore naming said person wouldn't be right, unless I was 100%. I was just trying to understand why the pitchforks were out for Andy(CG) auctioning a mat for charity, yet this amoral fucker goes unnoticed selling two of these for his own personal gain. People can flip what they want, but flipping charity pieces is just wrong.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by tonyskittles on Oct 22, 2019 0:35:00 GMT 1, As many other on here have pointed out, just because something was not “hand made” by someone does not mean it is not their work.... Damien Hirst is not embalming the animals himself, Koons is not hand making his ballon sculptures, Murakami is not screen-printing all his work, and I would go so far as to say 99.99999% of prints that we all own and have hanging on our walls did not have the squeegee hand pulled by the artist...this does not mean that any of the above mentioned is not said artists work... are the mats made by banksy? No. Are they a banksy? Yes. People really have lost their whole mind on this thread 😂
Also as a side note, please let’s not be one and done with this charity after we all (hopefully) get the mat. What Abi is doing for these brave women is incredible, and once you start to unpeel what the living conditions are like for the folks who are lucky enough to make it out, I find it hard to believe that you will not be compelled to help out Abi and these talented craftswomen.
