I actually got the preorder email from love welcomes but when clicking the button I kept getting an error message! I emailed them to mention this and they suggested donating the ยฃ500 but felt Iโd not be able to prove the purchase lol. Kind of wish I did nowโฆโฆ I doubt theyโd honour it now lol

I mean, the support generated from their sale - great, the concept - great, the potential for debate around them - great, but they are also undeniably kinda a depressing subject matter for a display item. Especially for rich folk who might already frequently hear the sound of guillotines in their sleep.
You have friends 'round for cheese and wine, and they ask, "Hey - what's with the welcome mat on your wall and/or coffee table?"
"Well," you say, "y'know that humanitarian crisis that's occurring in the Mediterranean and everywhere else?"
It would be a bit like having and displaying a souvenir snow globe sold to raise money for the victims of the Boxing Day tsunami. And there was real sea water inside every snow globe.

I personally love them and think they're a great buy, but do we really want the value of these to skyrocket? Just ask seller enough questions, check photos etc.
I've looked through them and they all look good to me.
Any doubts, ask them, if they are not happy to answer, move on...enough to choose from.
Check good sellers, feedback, previous etc.

Someone in Bulgaria is forging Peckham Rocks ffs. Worse than that, morons who have bought them from the Bulgarian are figuring it out and selling the ones they were rooked on from other locations (text font is one of the giveaways). The Ai Weiwei vase thread pretty much pushed me over the edge. Very sad Avant Arte didn't have the stones to chime in there.

Can someone confirm, the moment these originally went on sale, that they were 250 GBP? I was online when the email (pdf/jpg) went out and I would swear (and may have a screen shot on another hard drive) that that was the original price. I had recently bought a bunch of 'stuff' and wanted to discuss with my significant better other (who was asleep) before buying and missed out, but I would swear it was 250 per mat the first go-round.

I think that there is a long time now Jules Leotard that this forum has become a springboard, a gateway, what would we say, a bridge for sales threads. Even Daniel posts links to sales on ebay or auction sites. Who can we blame? Artists who lack imagination and only know how to give us tats or goodies to buy, or/and whose releases are sometimes disastrous (but never mind, the important thing is the hype and buying what comes out immediately (while so many treasures are in the boxes stored in the attics of Pow and old prints: but these are not, are no longer popular, since there is nothing left but the hype that counts, the rest being in the hands of sellers and speculators. There will only have been threads on Banksy or Goma, the one on book releases (the other on records no longer finding posters).. I must admit that I don't like street art academic, municipal that most artists currently do, its beautiful and pretty walls, without any demand, protest, or denunciation behind it. As restaurant decor, it would be a little off-putting for me.
Especially if I had just ordered some seafood.
