Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by Happy Shopper on Dec 17, 2019 18:21:03 GMT 1, I doubt Bbay will run out of stock. There always seems to be people wanting to sell Banksy work, and there may be benefits to selling through them. There is no way they can't run out of stock. Remember they've already done this. I was going to buy something from them last year but they had such Limited stock that I couldn't find the right piece. Once they advertise that they are the central hub for all trades, they will get sold out of the more popular or sought-after pieces assuming their pricing is in line with demand. The only way they won't is it they price everything out of everyone's reach and a secondary Market is undercutting. Of course they won't have every possible print! But neither does the current "secondary market". You have to wait for the print you'd like, or buy what's available.
The difference could be that there won't be much of a secondary market any more, other than Bbay

So, lets take the use case of a print not being available on bbay. Why would you want to sell through bbay if they predetermine pricing? you can find an auction market to go higher than what bbay will sell/buy for.
Another use case... How about if there is too much stock, will bbay lower prices?

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by LJCal on Dec 17, 2019 21:17:47 GMT 1, I don’t believe bBay will set prices, I expect it will be up to vendors to set prices or there will be an auction option. Once it’s up and running I really don’t see why vendors or buyers would go elsewhere as I imagine all prints will be pre authenticated and buyers and sellers can trade safely and with confidence. It will seriously hurt auction houses and brokers imo.

This would be a way to corner the market for those with real deep pockets

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by Daniel Silk on Dec 18, 2019 11:37:31 GMT 1, Could the long term effects of Bbay actually damage the Banksy values? Don’t you think the values have gone up because of the visibility of ebay auction results in the early years, plus the famous auction house results in the recent years. If from now onwards we don’t see any Banksy pieces coming up at Sotheby’s, Don’t you think that’s a bad thing?

Errrr this isn’t shutting down the resale market, just creating another managed by pest control 🤷🏻♂️

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by Terry Fuckwitt on Dec 18, 2019 11:54:45 GMT 1, It's sure going to hit the galleries like Castle and Hang up, especially Castle who mainly only deal in Banksy prints. People go to these knowing they are one of the only real trustworthy sources of Banksy prints outside the auctions.

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by Daniel Silk on Dec 18, 2019 12:09:21 GMT 1, So in a scenario in which your wanting to sell a signed Banksy print, already with a COA, where do you think people will go to get The highest price?
Imagine a few sell at an Auction House for much more than on Bbay, wouldn’t that pretty much be the end of that? I mean surely people will sell wherever they think they can get the best price. Of course buyers are looking for a place selling at the lowest price, but of course they are unlikely to have stock when the sellers migrate to whatever platform gives them the most money.

How about if there is too much stock, will bbay lower prices? Good point... but why would they sell cheap? No one would use them to sell their print!
So I think they'll work like any other gallery (or auction, if that's how they sell). Buyers will have more security so I'd assume buyers would pay more, not less, for that.

I guess it will depend a lot on what cut Bbay will be taking, coz if it’s too high I would have thought the sellers will stick to cheaper options such as selling on here for free. Anyway, its interesting to discuss it all here, but we will all just need to wait and see what actually happens.

Anyway, its interesting to discuss it all here, but we will all just need to wait and see what actually happens. Yes, I think it's all down to the fees. Auctions, galleries and brokers can take between 30-40% of the transaction value so are very expensive ways to sell, although of course they offer a greater degree of security and recourse (in general) than a private sale. If BBay can slash those costs and offer a greater degree of security for buyers and sellers then I imagine they will corner the market. Bbay could cut the fees to 10% for buyers and 10% for sellers and still make stacks of money, over £30m of Banksy prints traded through auction houses this year so that would be £3m turnover if they took even 50% of the market (that doesn't include private sales), plus ARR in Europe.

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by cest on Dec 18, 2019 18:55:57 GMT 1, One thing is with tarriffs, the us will pay 25% more than those elsewhere. So maybe that auctions, galleries and individual sales can be somewhere higher than bbay and lower than the bbay cost+ tarriffs + global shipping?

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by dotdot on Dec 18, 2019 19:36:05 GMT 1, as a concept it is an interesting development that is if it occurs.
no doubt various interested parties are more than interested how it might pan out.
One other thing to note .. for the buyer I'd guess shipping would also be managed by flight logistics - making that relationship solid as "initial authentication via shipping item using them" was in the past.
for the seller / who knows what the rules might be both in terms of fees and / or restoration costs if deemed necessary.
(i can imagine someone ..sending in a print - and getting it back with a red stamp on the back - being everyone's worst nightmare.)
where will laz fit in this mix .. somewhere or ... nowhere ? my thoughts , nowhere , he has plenty of works .. including those he has personally provided coa's for.. what was the story there eh ?
ho ho hum.

There was previously speculation that some of the "Unlimited" items like the shirts may be mini canvases.
Selling anything from GDP before receiving the actual item makes 0 sense.
