There always seems to be people wanting to sell Banksy work, and there may be benefits to selling through them. There is no way they can't run out of stock. Remember they've already done this. I was going to buy something from them last year but they had such Limited stock that I couldn't find the right piece. Once they advertise that they are the central hub for all trades, they will get sold out of the more popular or sought-after pieces assuming their pricing is in line with demand. The only way they won't is it they price everything out of everyone's reach and a secondary Market is undercutting.
Of course they won't have every possible print! But neither does the current "secondary market". You have to wait for the print you'd like, or buy what's available.
The difference could be that there won't be much of a secondary market any more, other than Bbay

Imagine a few sell at an Auction House for much more than on Bbay, wouldn’t that pretty much be the end of that? I mean surely people will sell wherever they think they can get the best price.
Of course buyers are looking for a place selling at the lowest price, but of course they are unlikely to have stock when the sellers migrate to whatever platform gives them the most money.

Auctions, galleries and brokers can take between 30-40% of the transaction value so are very expensive ways to sell, although of course they offer a greater degree of security and recourse (in general) than a private sale. If BBay can slash those costs and offer a greater degree of security for buyers and sellers then I imagine they will corner the market. Bbay could cut the fees to 10% for buyers and 10% for sellers and still make stacks of money, over £30m of Banksy prints traded through auction houses this year so that would be £3m turnover if they took even 50% of the market (that doesn't include private sales), plus ARR in Europe. |

So maybe that auctions, galleries and individual sales can be somewhere higher than bbay and lower than the bbay cost+ tarriffs + global shipping?

One other thing to note .. for the buyer I'd guess shipping would also be managed by flight logistics - making that relationship solid as "initial authentication via shipping item using them" was in the past.
for the seller / who knows what the rules might be both in terms of fees and / or restoration costs if deemed necessary.
(i can imagine someone ..sending in a print - and getting it back with a red stamp on the back - being everyone's worst nightmare.)
where will laz fit in this mix .. somewhere or ... nowhere ? my thoughts , nowhere , he has plenty of works .. including those he has personally provided coa's for.. what was the story there eh ?
