Thoughts on Ryan Hewitt, by christiangul on Oct 26, 2019 10:11:13 GMT 1, What are people’s thoughts on Ryan Hewitt? I’ve seen him being briefly discussed here some years ago, but almost silent now. Anyone have some originals you’d like to share? Personally I don’t like the two prints he has released, but I find the 2018-2019 originals stunning.
Apparently there is a 2-3 years queue for new originals.

Thoughts on Ryan Hewitt, by GMA on Oct 26, 2019 10:16:51 GMT 1, I have mixed feelings, there are some that I love and others that I really don't like, but I do like his style. I used to draw eyes a lot when I'd do doodles so maybe I see a connection to his works from that. Id like to have one of his prints one day, had the opportunity to buy one "African Child" but it just didn't resonate with me. All in good time though

Thoughts on Ryan Hewitt, by londonliam08 on Oct 26, 2019 12:42:20 GMT 1, I would buy a Micallef at below gallery cost on the secondary market over waiting 2-3 years for an OG from Hewett. My personal opinion anyway. Like a mix between Micallef and Neate.

Went for one of the hummingbirds from one of the previous shows which all sold but got an e-mail from the gallery week after saying the person had changed their mind and could kindly sell it to me with a £1k uplift, I passed 👀

Thoughts on Ryan Hewitt, by christiangul on Oct 26, 2019 23:16:24 GMT 1, Started out as a Micallef tribute act, has since thrown Neate into his act. Avoid.
Have seen the resemblance.... So Adam has been doing the faces for longer than Ryan? I only like his newer “figurative Picasso” paintings. Anyone here own some of them?
I’m more sceptic to the way Unit sells this artist. You pay a deposit of 50% now, and in 2–3 years you pay the rest, up to what the marked value is at that time. So if the painting is worth 10’ now, I pay 5’ now. If the painting is worth 20’ in 2-3 years I have to pay 15’ in 2-3 years. Is that a normal practice ?

Run by a couple of chancers selling to the clueless.

joking aside, thats absolutely mental, would never agree to anything like that. What other reputable gallery would ever do such a thing?

This cannot be true? That is utterly insane.

Thoughts on Ryan Hewitt, by christiangul on Oct 27, 2019 0:20:20 GMT 1, Thanks guys for this second opinion! I said exactly the same as you when I got quoted this payment plan for Ryan’s work. So I’ve said I’m not interested in that option. Either we agree on a set price now, or I’m off to either secondary or another artist.
I’ve experienced some odd things with galleries in my short art collection period, but good thing my radar was correct on this case.

Who decides the price when the time comes? Hhmm sounds fishy
