The shot by Nick Stern is just a cutesy photographic reenactment of Banksy's painting. It is not a source image for that painting.

Couldn't find accurate Banksy's photo but the original one was created by Polish punk moment back in the 80's ( At least they were first)

My guess is he probably projects an image on to the cardboard and free hand draws around it/ then cuts it out.

While most here are likely to recognise a still from Pulp Fiction, that may not be the case for absolutely everyone. Especially since the film was released in 1994, before some members were even born.

A fortiori, how many of us are familiar with an artist like Jacques-Louis David, the period in which he painted, or the title of simply one of his paintings?

And query how many members would recognise an old photo showing the aftermath of a few people (including a US President) getting shot, and then say to themselves, "Yeah, that's what happens when you try to impress Jodie Foster."

The 'Silent Highway' - Man. 'Your money or your life'. Cartoon published in Punch magazine, 10 July 1858, No. 35. This cartton refers to the problems caused by the very hot summer of 1858. The summer heat together with a very high level of sewage and pollution, caused a very bad smell coming from the river Thames. This cartoon depicts the allegorical figure of death rowing a boat on the polluted and foggy river where dead animals float by. Death is here associated with pollution and disease. St. Paul's Cathedral can be seen side by side with a smoky factory in the distance.


Originally painted on the side of the Thekla Social boat moored in Bristol Harbour in 2003, the decision was taken to remove the work to protect it from damage and wear and it is now on display in Bristol's M Shed (on long term loan from The Thekla).

 Banksy is a bull-shitter. In other words Banksy promoted himself blatantly by hijacking a Basquiat painted image and added massive amounts of virtue signalling text to make out he is switched on.

 It is so sad that Banksy resorts to judging people on appearance as I'm sure that the Barbican would be wary of any color drug enabled person who looks poor and scruffy.

  Basquiat came from a wealthy and connected family. Who had the money to send him to a private art school. Saint Annes school Brooklyn. ( Annual tuition as of 2019 is between $43,000 and $49,000 depending on grade level ) 

Basquiat made himself homeless but still had his families connections.

   Basquiat was working hard, was educated, multi lingual, was talented and was connected. There is no way a black or white drug enabled street person would get anywhere near Andy Warhols table and say hello without being connected to the right people.
