Tristan Manco ๐ฌ๐ง Graffiti Author โข Graffiti Brazil , by Trismanco on Aug 7, 2007 9:09:50 GMT 1, First up we have a new print, although its been a few months since it was made available in Brazil. This print was produced in tribute to remember the 70 year anniversary this year of the bombing of Guernica during Spain's Civil War which inspired Picasso's most famous painting. (See also Pure Evil) The artists are a collective called SHN, well known in Sao Paulo, price 35 pounds, edition 100.
Available here - www.choquecultural.co.uk/artists
Secondly we are very pleased to confirm our two month, 10 artist show beginning in October at Ocontemporary in Brighton - www.ocontemporary.com/exhibitions.htm
For many of these artists it will be their first show in the UK, as part of this we are now working on 10 prints - one for each artist.

Tristan Manco ๐ฌ๐ง Graffiti Author โข Graffiti Brazil , by ocontemporary on Nov 6, 2007 16:58:41 GMT 1, Following the huge success of the first round of Cor Da Rua (Street Colour) with Titifreak, Daniel Melim, Silvana Mello, Kboco and Andrei Muller, we're delighted to announce the arrival on our shores of Speto, MZK, Carlos Dias, Ramon Martins and Zezao.
As The Times says of our Cor Da Rua show 'street art here can't shake a stick at the burgeoning Brazilian scene, now deemed the most significant in the global urban art movement' which is why in association with Sao Paulo's Choque Cultural we're whiteing out the installations currently adorning our walls ( www.ocontemporary.co.uk/news/ ) and giving the round two artists the same free reign to turn ocontemporary into an authentic corner of Sao Paulo.
Come and join us and the artists on Friday 9th November between 6pm and 9pm to celebrate this ground-breaking new show and be the first to see the all-new work, and the one-off installations that will only be in existence for a criminally short 4 weeks.
Brahma are sponsoring the opening night party with their authentic Brazilian beer and if that's not enough, our friends at the Ramada Hotel on Brighton's seafront are offering 25% off to anyone mentioning ocontemporary and the show, so if you don't want to take one of the many fast 48-minute trains back to London on the night there's every reason to make an occasion of it.
Looking forward to seeing you and we'd appreciate it if you'd drop us an email on gallery@ocontemporary.com to let us know you're coming.
With all 10 artists making the trip to create unique installations of work and art for sale, Cor Da Rua will be a one-off unmissable experience. Tristan Manco, author 'Graffiti Brasil'; 'Street Logos'; 'Stencil Graffiti'; 'Street Sketchbook' (Thames and Hudson)
PS kick off with Tristan's 'Street Sketchbook' launch at Rough Trade in Brick Lane in the afternoon

Tristan Manco ๐ฌ๐ง Graffiti Author โข Graffiti Brazil , by m@san on Nov 8, 2007 10:55:52 GMT 1, Noticed this in the Argus : www.theargus.co.uk/display.var.1817045.0.sewers_transformed_by_street_artist.php
Did anyone take any pictures?
Sewers transformed by street artist By Simon Barrett Comment | Read Comments (1) Colourful murals on walls, doors and the occasional fence have become a familiar sight in Sussex.
But the Victorian sewer system in Brighton and Hove has now been given a colourful make-over so workers and people who go on tours find the underground area less imposing.
Working in near darkness and using only two cans of spray paint, Brazilian Zezao took just half an hour to create his work of art.
advertisement The 35-year-old is best known for creating murals in the industrialised sewer system of his native Sao Paolo, where he developed his own distinctive style.
Southern Water allowed Zezao exclusive access to the extensive network of sewers beneath the city to create his masterpiece, which will greet those who take the water company's tours of the system.
Over the past 25 years, street art has become an increasing point of global interest and a popular form of expression in many countries. Brazil has a particularly significant scene that has influenced the urban movement from the start.
Zezao flew in from Sao Paolo especially to carry out the dark task.
He said: "I started painting murals in sewers about seven years ago. I was a street artist and found them really peaceful places to work, despite the fact it is illegal in Brazil to go into the sewers.
"I love Brighton, it is such a cool place and so different from Sao Paolo. It is important that street art like this is seen throughout the world as it has got a powerful message. It has roots in politics and is a form of expression."
The event was arranged in celebration of Cor Da Rua, an celebration of Brazilian urban art being held at the Ocontemporary (CORR) art gallery in Trafalgar Street, Brighton.
The largest show of its kind, Cor Da Rua translates as "street colour" and is a two month, 10-artist exhibition of work considered to be the most significant genre of the global urban art movement.
The exhibition runs until December 9.
For more information on the exhibition, visit www.ocontemporary.com or call 01273 698500.
Examples of Zezaoรญs work in Brazil can be seen at www.lost.art.br/zezao.

Tristan Manco ๐ฌ๐ง Graffiti Author โข Graffiti Brazil , by Trismanco on Dec 27, 2007 14:43:46 GMT 1, Prints from the second round of the Cor da Rua show are now up on the website.
And a little info on the prints...
Carlos Dias - one of his themes is birds, this exuberantly hand drawn print is a classic of his street style.
Zezรฃo's street work often takes him underground to the sewers of Sao Paulo where his fluid designs adorn found rusting textures. In this print he uses gold to represent rusting metal and a found sewer lid as a support for his signature shapes.
Speto's girl eating melon print is inspired by his girlfriend who loves to eat melon!
MZK - Mambo mexican styles in this Day of the Dead matchbook print.
Thanks for supporting Brazilian art this year - looking forward new projects to 2008...!
