I like how he and Liu Bolin took a modern design element and flipped it back into the past. It gets me thinking of my own past and the what ifs of life.
I recently saw on Instagram a picture of the previous louvre edition framed in an antique style golden frame which seemed very fitting and beautiful.

It's one of the most aesthetically pleasing images that he's released as a print and is afforable. If you like an artist, sometimes you just want something of that artist's. The best for me what its size, easily framed for cheap and can be put pretty much anywhere in my place.

JR doesnโt flip, for the most part.
And I bought because it is aesthetically pleasing and I love his Louvre projects - I think they are incredibly memorable. I also own the earlier louvre print (daytime one) and it is gigantic to the point where I canโt find a good place to hang in my new living space so this will be a nice replacement. Itโs a nice little print, and definitely one of the better images for a JR print.

JRโs work at the louvre is quite superb if you take into account a little history.
IM Peiโs design was quite controversial and this work is spot on in continuing commentary of just that. The juxtaposition of the modern and traditional architecture in which JRโs work instantly calls to that historical debate.
The trompe l'oeil style, the color vs black and white, the composition is perfection in my eyes.
Referring to this as a coffee table image that isnโt worth the cost of a frame is a grossly inaccurate understanding of the work in my opinion.
