Art Collection Database, by h.dupa on Nov 9, 2019 17:10:48 GMT 1, I’m working on a free database for collectors. I’m getting this build because I think none of the existing websites provides every function wanted/needed by collectors (not by me anyway), unless you’re willing to pay (a lot).
I think I’ve got most features covered, but I’m curious to know your need-to-haves and want-to-haves when using a collectors database.
Also; I hope it will be done in a week or so. Would anyone be interested to help me test it before it goes live?

Make sure that first column is password protected.

Too many websites quote prices but not the condition or its authenticity Yes, this will be in it. PDF/JPG uploading of documents and pictures. With loads of options what and what not to share with other users. But in the first instance only for administrative purposes. There's no option to sell your artwork though the website. That can be an option for the future.

Art Collection Database, by pellets on Nov 10, 2019 16:08:53 GMT 1, Sorry if this is a stupid question. But is the idea that i could create a catalogue of all of the works i own as well as when and how much i paid for them. So i can keep track of my own art, see what art others own and see recent auction/sales prices for works i own?
(Ive recently been thinking of how i could best catalogue my tiny collection so this could be very helpful)
The site could also include a section explaining how best to photograph and archive ones art to ensure the works on the site are well presented and well preserved.

Yes, that's exactly what it is (no auction results though, unless i find a way to easily import these). But also a price reference point for editions (EB style).
And thanks for your idea. Maybe that's something better discussed on a board like this, but i'm open to it.

Yeah defo more of a UAA thing.
Would be interesting to see a list of common condition issues and how to catalogue them; e.g. it seems some waviness is to be expected with a D*face but could be a condition issue with other types of print.
Looking forward to your new platform. I hope its a success!

But you're right. This won't be for everybody. And that's ok.
PS. Exporting your collection to a spreadsheet/pdf will be one of the features.

Art Collection Database, by Deleted on Nov 11, 2019 8:40:10 GMT 1, There are a few of these databases out there and frankly anyone listing their entire collection for the general public to see is asking for trouble!
I use google sheets. It’s live online so I can make changes instantly from my phone or PC and it’s PRIVATE!
Sorry to be negative but the world just isn’t that innocent

I use „Numbers“ from Apple and works awesome. Thought about a software or database but decided to go with my existing solution.

You can choose what to share with other users.
And of course all data is encrypted in the database. So i think it's quite safe.
But if it's not for you, no problem.
