Have picture in a big frame - trouble?, by sleepyl on Nov 13, 2019 9:05:28 GMT 1, I don't understand. If you want to store it flat while you're traveling, then it does not matter how big the frame is. Do you want to hang it too?

Have picture in a big frame - trouble?, by blenki on Nov 13, 2019 11:09:22 GMT 1, Doesn't matter that the frames too big, you want to keep the print from touching the glass though, so as suggested a bit of acid free tissue paper will do for now

Have picture in a big frame - trouble?, by rinz on Nov 13, 2019 13:12:15 GMT 1, I am new to framing. When you frame a picture, i would assume the picture always touch the glass or? Do you then always need acid free paper?

Have picture in a big frame - trouble?, by rinz on Nov 13, 2019 13:43:51 GMT 1, How can it not touch the glass? In such a frame the picture is hold in place, because itโs stuck between back and glas, i thought?

You're mixing up framing and storing. If you want to store your print, then it does not matter if you store it in a big frame as long as it does not touch the glass. As said, store it flat and add one sheet of acid free paper between the print and the glass. If you have a few prints, you should consider buying an art folder A1/A0 depending on the size of your prints.
If you want to frame it, then no need for acid free paper (or you would not see the print obv.) but the print should not touch the glass. Depending on the value of your print, you may want to have it professionally framed. If you're located in London, then search for MFM / Mister Frame Man in the forum.
Also I would advise to do your homework as there is plenty of useful information in multiple threads in this sub-forum.

Have picture in a big frame - trouble?, by blenki on Nov 14, 2019 8:56:19 GMT 1, If you want to use the frame you've got to frame it, you will either need to get a mount and backing, which sandwiches the print between two pieces of acid free / conservation board. The mount keeps the print off of the glass.
Or you can float the print using ph neutral hinging tape and use spacers. The spacers sit inside the frame on the glass and keep the print from touching.
You're doing two different things at the moment, storing the print, and framing it properly.
Theres loads of info / videos out there on how to frame a picture.
