POW show comes to Dover Street Market, by mido on Apr 12, 2006 23:06:50 GMT 1, The 'UK Jack, OK!' show has now come to the UK, including some POW stuff. It's at the Comme Des Garcons 'Dover Street Market' in ...um..Dover Street, London (near Green Park tube). April 10-May 13. This is what was first show at Colette in Paris, and will later go to Isetan in Tokyo.
If, like me (until today), you are ignorant of the Dover Street market, it is NOT a street market, so don't, like me, keep your eye out for people shouting 'boiled onions' and 'crate of nanas for a quid'! It is a 'concept' market from Comme Des Garcons. Transaltion - it is a shop, but they try to make it look like an indoor market (except that no market I've ever known has Shoreditch tw@ts for their staff and has so little stock available, or portaloos as some sort of 'installations') . The only problem is, for people like me, is that you wonder what the hell this place is, and what 'normal' people like me are supposed to do there.
Anyway, I have digressed. The great thing is that it a pretty simple (and FREE) way to get to see some POW art in the flesh. On the ground floor level they have 6 canvases (i think), with the centre piece being a Banksy Queen Vic! there are 3 Eine's and 2 Dface i think. Then there are some of the POW prints (all in stock stuff - banksy rats etc) on the same floor and also some Modern Toss and david Shrigley stuff downstairs
The rest of the show is upstairs in a differnet bit. I didn't bother going up. might do another day.

POW show comes to Dover Street Market, by mido on Apr 12, 2006 23:08:27 GMT 1, to give you an idea of what this market is like here's a quote for CDG founder Rei Kawakubo
"I want to create a kind of market where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos: the mixing up and coming together of different kindred souls who all share a strong personal vision."

It's a tiny bit further up (north) the street than the red circle; can't go wrong really.

POW show comes to Dover Street Market, by crack on May 9, 2006 16:44:06 GMT 1, has anyone come across Peter kennard's 'The Mall'?
They have one on the first floor and its awesome. Cannot seem to locate a picture for you guys but its a long shot of the Mall with British and Amrerican flags running the length of the mall. Between these is an Attack Helicopter - is an awesome image.
It is worth having a look round in there as theres some great stuff on the walls.

Ah mate - the very one - what a great picture, really like it and I believe its £415 - reckon this is a good price? Theres also another one by the same guy - its called 'Cruise Missile' and came out in 1981! Looks like Banksy may have seen this as a young lad as some of his constable / country side scenes, strike quite a similar resembelance - anyone seen/agree/disagree.
By the way Loverat, where did you find this image?
