Recent Art Pick ups - Looking for some thoughts, by Rouen Cathedral on Dec 6, 2019 15:09:20 GMT 1, Title says it all. Been picking up a couple things here and there and will post. Interested to see if anybody has thoughts on the works whether it be more information on the work, who the artist is, did I waste my money, really anything :-)
First pickups I'm interested in seeing if anybody has information on is the below.
Numbered screen prints, signed "Taylor", my understanding is they are from 1960's. They are quite nicely done with great colors, that old vintage paper smell, and in nice condition.

This is all I could find. The signature looks similar to the one on his 1959 drawing and if the prints are by him and a few years later, his signature could vary from his early signing. This is a very weak image and looks to be staged.
Do you think all the horses and people were actually there while he was painting this sat at his easel?
I would say he probably sat down for two minutes and drew a sketch, then went to the pub to finish off with paint whilst getting sh!t faced on the profits from selling his previous horsey prints to other rich fools.
Look at the horses, they're half transparent, but that's OK isn't it cause Dufy fans think that's cool.
Those Mr Peanut people have clearly been copied from the Planters peanut adverts, but that doesn't matter does it, cause Dufy can do no wrong.
Actually he probably never even went to Ascot, he probably sent one of the other members of Team Dufy to paint it.
Look at the perspective, it's all wrong! Oh wait, it's Dufy and Dufy fans think it's great so it must be.
Quick let's all invest in Dufy, he's the new thing!
I like some of his work, but I can't afford his prints. I'm going to buy one of his books and cut out a page and frame it. Then I can have an original Dufy print on my wall at a fraction of the price.
