Count Down Of Prints, by victorwilliams on Feb 6, 2007 10:54:12 GMT 1, Do you guys think its a good idea that POW now show how many prints are left. On one hand I like it because you can say when you need to splash the cash but on the other hand I think its playing into ebay baggers hand?
Discuss ..... I you like?!

Count Down Of Prints, by CR on Feb 6, 2007 11:01:05 GMT 1, I think its a good idea, the ones that sell fast are limited to one anyway and the ones that people can buy unlimited arent really the ones that blaggers can sell on for a profit on ebay but it will allow us to see if we can hang around - like dolks che for example - I like the print but had other things to buy but now i can afford to take my time.
I also think that the allocation of print numbers is a good idea - it means that those selling them before they even have them like the guy selling sms on ebay have the number and have to give it to people enquiering which also means if POW decided they could not send the print to them! maybe

Count Down Of Prints, by rickyc on Feb 6, 2007 11:07:10 GMT 1, I like the idea.
Let me use Dolk's Burger King as an example
Just before they sold out, I asked around here to see what numbers people had been receiving and, assuming there was a few left, I put off the purchase.
From my point of view, and POW's point of view, if they had told me there were 20 left, I would have put aside my need to wait until the next pay-day, and punished my credit card like no tomorrow to get my hands on one. I would have bought one, and POW would have sold one.
From a scalpers point of view, sure they can see that its popular, and buy one to throw on ebay, but at least this way, I had the chance to buy at any point and it is literally all down to me if I miss out. Also, I think POW recognise that they can no longer be held accountable for prints selling out and going up on ebay (thus, dozens of complaints), if everyone can see the slow count-down from 250/300/500/etc.
Just my thoughts, but I had hoped they would put something like this in place, and I thinks its grand.

Count Down Of Prints, by CR on Feb 6, 2007 14:43:48 GMT 1, i've noticed playing around abit that the numbers dont always go in order - for instance i added a 2D and got 70 then another and got 71 then 93, 152, 153, 154, 158, 184??
also for panda rocks for example you can add in lots of prints until you get number 100 then remove the ones inbetween so you get print number 100. does this mean POW is going to number them up after youve bought it? otherwise if everyone did that to get the number they wanted they would be searching through the pile everytime to get the right number!
hmmmm

Count Down Of Prints, by smashedhat on Feb 6, 2007 14:55:18 GMT 1, If POW are keeping a log of every sale with the corresponding edition number as their site suggests then it makes sense to allocate it at purchase time so that the data is kept online and there is no manual process involved (sorry, I do this sort of stuff for a living!).
I imagine that the 93, 152, 153, 154, 158, 184 numbers are the editions left in stock. I expect they will be numbering new prints on demand according to the order they are purchased in

Count Down Of Prints, by ®at on Feb 6, 2007 14:56:19 GMT 1, idoes this mean POW is going to number them up after youve bought it?
It would make a lot of sense! It means that is the number they write on it when they pack it, after they pick one up from a pile of unnumbered prints. Makes sense- let the computer preassign the numbers and store the details of purchaser for the database....which should help reduce/elimniate human errors and having duplicate numbers floating about as we have seen on a couple of occasions.
