Will be interested to see it’s true value.. £11500 doesn’t seem totally unreasonable..

Harland Miller - High On Hope - CE, by Adam The Collector on Jan 2, 2020 16:52:02 GMT 1, Very nice print, yes I think this is the first I’ve seen show up as well. The original packing was very good so it can confidently be shipped anywhere. Good luck with the sale!

Harland Miller - High On Hope - CE, by Riotcops on Jan 2, 2020 19:56:59 GMT 1, Congrats on the quick sale.
I'm confused as to why this would fly so quickly? if someone really wanted one they could buy it from source for £500 more for months now. It's less than £10k when buying outside of UK direct from CE.
Congrats on the quick sale.

I find it interesting how everyone is convinced Harlands market is dropping...
The penguins are still increasing very well.
Maybe the non penguin pieces that aren’t as desirable make the penguins even more valuable?
Small tonight is now 20k . That’s double tier one and still 25% up for higher tiers paying 14/15k from source.
My HF piece has doubled in value in 2 years.. 100% increase!!.. banks pay 0.00000000001% .. I’ll take that!!
Like every artist Harland is a safe bet if the right pieces are bought..

Yeah cause back in the day it was all about the love... 🤦🏼♂️
The games changed, arts f**king expensive and only a fool would buy it without having at least one eye on the financials. That doesn’t mean you don’t love art, it means you aren’t a fool.

Harland Miller - High On Hope - CE, by Express Post on Jan 4, 2020 23:54:39 GMT 1, I started buying art because I liked it. Didn't consider the numbers. Spent more time and resources building businesses to afford the art I wanted. Can say that the money made from selling equity and flipping businesses has been more lucrative than any Jonas Wood original, Banksy original or if you want, Harland Miller hf prints. Talking absolute gain, not percentage return.

Congratulations and I’m sure nobody here thinks you’ve made the wrong choices, however to imply you should never consider the ‘money’ side of art when buying is ridiculous. The days of a £100 print are long gone.
Decent Emerging artists are now £10,000 a canvas. It’s an expensive game. That’s not going to change..
We can all play the game differently but I guarantee you, 99.9% of us love art.

Harland Miller - High On Hope - CE, by Express Post on Jan 5, 2020 0:14:40 GMT 1, There is a misunderstanding here.
I agree with buying value instead of getting ripped off.
I made the observation that money sullies art based on market talk, and not discussing the art itself or what the artist has to say.
Everyone has a different agenda/motive for buying art and that's ok.

I’m not sure that we are all playing the same “game”. There are many prints still available for £100 or less. And most of us cannot even consider paying anything like 10k for an original. If that’s all that is left, then many of us can no longer play. I bought an original today for £100. And it’s bloody lovely. I have no eye to future value. It will be framed and hung and enjoyed for the fabulous piece of art that it is. All that said, I accept that many who are interested in investment also have a passion for art.

We can all play the game differently but I guarantee you, 99.9% of us love art. I can heartily recommend trying to play a different 'game'. It is perfectly possible to enjoy art that does not cost these kinds of sums. In fact, personally speaking I found that I don't enjoy owning 'expensive art' - I suspect I may get just as much pleasure from something that wouldn't even cover a fraction of the shipping of one of your purchases. Being expensive doesn't make it good, and being inexpensive doesn't mean it's worthless. It's an easy trap to fall into. While I wouldn't for a moment suggest that you don't have a genuine love of art, it's very wrong to suggest that you can't share that love if you don't have deep pockets. (To clarify, I'm aware that isn't what you were saying). If you're dismissing artists who don't command such figures for their work, you really are missing out.
I just think we are on very different journeys. I love art but also love the business of art. I’ve wasted far to much money on bad buys to ignore that fact. I now have a fabulous collection that is continually growing in relevance, stature and value..
Am I a multi millionaire who can buy art without thinking? No Do I buy, sell and play the game to work my way up the ladder? Yes Do I want to leave my kids a fortune in art? Yes. Do I want to be recognised as a serious collector in 20 years? Yes Do I buy expensive blue chip art? Yes Do I take a punt on an emerging artist that’s fairly cheap? Yes Do I regret that buy 99% of the time? Yes Will I change because the forum tells me too? Erm HELL NO!
You do your thing and I’ll do mine.
