Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by kuni on Jan 14, 2020 17:23:34 GMT 1, Holy crap those reviews are something else. Hindsight being 20/20 and all...but wow, they seem to consistently F up people's artwork. Reminds me of the framer who cut the signature line off a pair of original Matisse prints that were in my family. Like literally, they were taken to the framer and came back with the signatures cut off. To make matters worse, the framer then wrote in the name of the print and "by Henri Matisse" or something to that effect where the signature used to be. So, yeah, this was before the days of internet framers. I remember you telling this story a while back and every now and again I think of it and shudder. I just had to help my mom move a bunch of stuff out of my grandmother's old house, the Matisse prints being some of the stuff. It almost made me sick looking at those prints, wondering how a "framer" could possibly be so moronic.

It almost made me sick looking at those prints, wondering how a "framer" could possibly be so moronic. I remember that story when you posted it on here too. Although can't recall the outcome in the end? Lol, unfortunately the outcome was "tough shit" enjoy your unsigned prints! This happened 30+ years ago so the details around how it went down and the followup are still up for some debate. My uncle has one story and my mom remembers it similarly with some differences. I think the biggest unknown was whether the framer thought that the prints would look better without the signatures, accidentally cropped them, or maybe needed to trim the print down to fit a mat or frame and thought "who needs this pesky signature." Also my mom remembers the framer taping the signature to the back of the frame (it's no longer there) and my uncle thinks it was just scrapped. The framer wrote the prints info on the bottom of the mat.
I don't have an exact year on this, but it's possible that having a signed print in the 60's or 70's wasn't as big of a deal as it is today? Seems to me that it would always be sacrilegious to crop the signature but maybe not. They're still lovely pieces, and not leaving the family, so it makes for an interesting story.

Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by thataintright on Jan 14, 2020 19:56:28 GMT 1, Thanks for all the advice everyone. I have not heard back from Frambridge this morning but after reading those reviews, ughhh. I normally do my homework on new companies but they caught me slipping on this one, lesson learned.

Have you requested a call back or started a chat through their website? I would send those photos through email (so that they have them attached to your profile/order number) and then start a chat so that you can demand for their customer service telephone number or for them to call you back at that moment.

This is how you end up getting a Molotov through the front window.

Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by Daniel Silk on Jan 15, 2020 4:00:21 GMT 1, I would contact the artist as see if it was possible to be the print numbered again. I would have thought most artists would be willing to help in this situation.

Although probably why I didn't remember the outcome! Know what you're saying about times changing etc. but baffles belief that at no point did common sense not kick in and the framer think chopping a bit of the print off was an odd thing to do. Still makes for an amusing if painful story.....although not sure one that I would fancy have happen to me! ;-)

Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by Dust Buster on Jan 16, 2020 19:51:29 GMT 1, I’ve only had bad experiences with Frambridge. I would not use them for anything that has monetary or sentimental value. Pictures of your dog, etc, are fine.
I do use www.levelframes.com/ from time to time. Occasionally I sell my own photography, and if the customer wants custom framing I got straight to them. I am wary of sending anything of value into a black box, so be careful sending your art anywhere!

Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by thataintright on Jan 25, 2020 9:24:47 GMT 1, Thanks again for all the advice and sorry for the slow follow up as things have not been settled yet.
Current situation: After I had read everyones advice I emailed them letting them know what happened (11 days ago).
Three days went by with no response.
I emailed the representative assigned to me again, asking if there had been any information he could share or if he had reached out to the artist and heard back (8 days ago).
He responded very apologetic, saying he had reached out to the artist asking if the print could be reprinted and then restated that they could buy the print from a third party if one is available or compensate me monetarily. They can offer $300 without proof of purchase or with proof of purchase they can compensate fully. As we are all aware the purchase price is not usually the value of a print that has sold out and my print is not currently on ebay (and havent seen on Art For Sale) There is another print of this artist on ebay but for a significant increase in price.
He emailed again 4 days ago saying he still had not heard back and he will be out of the office till Monday. I will email him again sometime this weekend.
I had reached out to the artist on instagram about 11 days ago asking them if they would ever send a print out that had the edition number erased and he responded his studio would never do that. I felt conflicted about asking him if he could reprint the print and decided not to, believing it is Framebrdige's job to make this right and not mine. I assume Framebridge reached out to him via email and will tell them to follow up via instagram and will also send them the ebay listing of his other print available.
Will update again as new information comes up.
And Kuni fuck that is brutal to read, sorry.

Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by Fantasmes on Jan 25, 2020 15:54:31 GMT 1, I hope this works out in your favor. This is terrifying and I’ll never use Framebridge again, despite having used them with no issues. Perhaps this was because I went to one of their two brick and mortar stores.
Now considering having my prints reframed by a real shop like I usually do. You’ve got me shuddering now.

Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by thataintright on Feb 28, 2020 6:55:52 GMT 1, The issue is finally resolved. Frambridge ended up buying me another print from the same artist from user tdelsh who was a pleasure to deal with. They offered to frame the new print for free but I ended up passing. Super shitty situation all around but glad it was finally resolved and i am left feeling relieved.

I'm glad you got it resolved, did they ever explain why they did what they did? I mean come on, what an absolute error of judgement.

Frambridge ended up buying me another print from the same artist from user tdelsh who was a pleasure to deal with. They offered to frame the new print for free but I ended up passing. Supers**tty situation all around but glad it was finally resolved and i am left feeling relieved. Glad this was resolved, too, after all this time. As was mentioned, I'm curious as to whether they had an explanation; I'd be tempted to demand they investigate the matter down to the person(s) who handled the "framing."
I want to trust them with my prints, as I had good luck with some pieces they framed, but this is a step back. I actually had my framer inspect Framebridge's work, as I needed to have spacers added, and they said it was, in fact, all acid free materials with the exception of one sheet/board that was not in contact with the print. They didn't seem concerned with the job.
That said, I may give them another try with a print I'd feel more comfortable with, putting in writing to Framebridge that nothing about the print/paper etc. is to be altered, and also take/provide before and after pictures. One element I will note is that Framebridge has an actual store in DC, which I used, so I'm wondering if perhaps better care is taken going that route, who knows.
