I'm off to Tokyo for a visit next week, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for galleries or stores I should check out. I'm particularly interested in any places that might sell any of Murakami's prints, as I'm fairly keen to get my hands on one.

In my experience, emailing or even phoning the New York office is a complete waste of time. They told me to email and then didn't bother to reply! But they should give you some info about this "Kaikaikiki Marketplace", which I presume is a store of theirs?? Have a fantastic trip anyway. I'd love to get to Japan some day.

if you like toys - "kiddyland:" in harajuku - 5 floors of mad toys !
ueno area - kind of weird street market ,round the back of the station , but worth a trip if you like taking in the atmosphere thats not touristic .
too many places to mention but of course shibuya must be seen !
am jealous have fun .............

If you're looking for a great meal, search for a place that serves Chanko Nabe, which is a traditional meal that sumo wrestlers eat. It's much more refined in a restaurant setting, though! So much to see and do there!!

i hope that i will find once time to post again some pics of the new works but at the moment i dont find so much time.

Adapta Galleryโs third curated project will be held on November 12th - November 29th 2009, with a show in Tokyo called Close Encounters. The show consists of 8 British-based artists, including Best Ever, Cyclops, D*Face, David Bray, Matt Small, Sickboy, Word To Mother and Vesna Parchet. The variety of work on show is eclectic, and that is precisely the reason why we chose them in the first place. From D*Face's two-dimensional graphic art to the rich textures of emerging artist Vesna Parchet's styled character-based paintings, a plethora of mediums, emotions and messages are employed for the viewer to digest. This particular show is very close to our hearts as we are finally able to put together an amazing line up of artists to produce works for our Tokyo readers and Japanese collectors to see in person. We have been interviewing and working on projects with so many talented British creatives over the years and to finally curate our own show in Tokyo for our main audience is a true honour. On the opening night, we will also have special guests: Usugrow, Jeff Soto, Shohei Takasaki & Yoshiki Nagayama also showing their works.
