Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by fm1975 on Dec 18, 2023 19:21:17 GMT 1, Just checked with AA and artwork is based on a previous gouache from 2016. Dont like when artist take editions as a pure support (copy & paste) and dont create a real artwork specially for each edition release... donโt mind this. Itโs been reworked to make a 23 (?) layer silkscreen print with some interesting inks. I love silk screens so very happy with the piece. The original will be worth ยฃ20-50k tooโฆ I mind. Prefer original editions. Also prefer etchings than silkscreensโฆ

However, it does show what a poor condition the print market is in - year or so ago this would have been an edition of 1000 plus easily, with many expecting a quick flip! Nice looking print though and a good one for people to stick on their wall - it will appreciate over time Yep. Many timed editions everywhereโฆ Abramovic, Vhils, Hirst, Marc Quinn, Ai Weiwei, now Kapoorโฆ Market is saturated.

And no one can immediately flip an AA timed edition. Often his limited editions are slow to sell. Look at that migrate art print : ยฃ2500 edition of 100. Smaller dimensions but took ages to sell out. Galleries ask more but they can't shift them. I'd say the price looks about right for the edition size. Having said that, it's one of his stronger images as an edition and will do well but in the medium to longer run.

Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by its all about me on Dec 19, 2023 13:21:34 GMT 1, Should have just been released as an edition and been done with it. Hopefully timed editions will become a thing of the past. Iโve yet to meet anyone who likes them. I do. Here's a few reasons why...
1. It discourages flippers. Nobody is going to buy from a flipper when you can buy at source.
2. It means I can definitely buy the artworks that I want, rather than have to pay silly prices on the secondary market after trying (and failing) to buy something in 7 seconds or less.
3. The edition size on timed editions is never very high in my experience so you still get an excellent print with a fairly low print run.
4. Timed editions are usually lower in price than other limited editions by the same artists. You basically get more bang for your buck.

Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by George Poppit on Dec 19, 2023 13:34:53 GMT 1, Donโt agree that timed editions are usually smaller in numbers. Most are high and the only people really doing well out of them is the publisher (and possibly artist). Sorry but I donโt agree they benefit collectors, there is something special about a limited edition that is watered down in a timed edition. If youโre that worried about missing out or flippers maybe youโd prefer an open edition.

The bang is removed from the purchase completely, don't you get that? Your'e buying something which will will never be worth what you paid for it. Unless of course you love the art but then why buy art from a millionaire artist when there are many more competent artists struggling to find buyers.
This print will be remembered as Anish Kapoor's little bastard, a foray which people saw through. All of the AA work is rolled out or prefab, their approach is all time limited in a similar way that nfts were. I got an email saying last chance, then another, then a final last chance. Desperate.

This print will be remembered as Anish Kapoor's little bastard, a foray which people saw through. All of the AA work is rolled out or prefab, their approach is all time limited in a similar way that nfts were. I got an email saying last chance, then another, then a final last chance. Desperate. Did Anish (or Christian) steal your pocket money or flush your head down the toilet when you were in primary school? Iโm trying to work out why you are holding a grudge against the guy. Iโm sure you wonโt find a single person who bought this timed release who is unhappy, so no need to keep banging on about it.

Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by Gentle Mental on Dec 20, 2023 0:11:39 GMT 1, One feature of timed release usually is the crazy low price to allow more folks score a big name.
At 1.5k they should just state the Ed size upfront.
I think AA/Kapoor hoping for a hirat henj resultโฆ but hirst is creative on his releases and he markets harrrd.

Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by nobokov on Dec 20, 2023 0:34:22 GMT 1, Should have just been released as an edition and been done with it.
I'm not sure if those reasons ring true. Flippers buy timed editions as well. They seem to buy anything at any price for no good reason. The edition sizes are usually much higher than truly limited editions so for any perceived discount that you may or may not pay up front, the increased edition size reduces the future value of the edition.
I feel that timed edition benefits only the gallery and artist and hurts the editions market as a whole.

Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by The Greased Piglet on Dec 20, 2023 5:08:59 GMT 1, We have yet to see how many of the AA editions fair on the secondary market, they have pretty tight hold on that element too, this like many of the other make ready prints leaves me cold. Your'e buying something which will never be worth as much as you pay for it within in your lifetime. I hope you like it. Some people don't buy art to make money. Just saying. Yeah they're called liars. If someone knows a collector who is not obsessed by the finances please send my way.

Timed editions are usually lower in price than other limited editions by the same artists. You basically get more bang for your buck. There is hypocrisy loaded into each of these points. Desperate. 1. I don't think you know what the word 'hypocrisy' means.
2. Timed editions are lower in price than other limited editions. So, yes, you do absolutely get more bang for your bucks.
3. There have been plenty of examples of timed editions selling well on the secondary market. One example, off the top of my head, is Damien HIrst's Cherry Blossom prints. They repeatedly sell for way more than retail.
4. AA sell art. That is what they do. They produce art and encourage people to buy it. It's called running a business.
