Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by fm1975 on Dec 20, 2023 14:36:59 GMT 1, There is hypocrisy loaded into each of these points. The bang is removed from the purchase completely, don't you get that? Your'e buying something which will will never be worth what you paid for it. Unless of course you love the art but then why buy art from a millionaire artist when there are many more competent artists struggling to find buyers. This print will be remembered as Anish Kapoor's little bastard, a foray which people saw through. All of the AA work is rolled out or prefab, their approach is all time limited in a similar way that nfts were. I got an email saying last chance, then another, then a final last chance. Desperate. 1. I don't think you know what the word 'hypocrisy' means. 2. Timed editions are lower in price than other limited editions. So, yes, you do absolutely get more bang for your bucks. 3. There have been plenty of examples of timed editions selling well on the secondary market. One example, off the top of my head, is Damien HIrst's Cherry Blossom prints. They repeatedly sell for way more than retail. 4. AA sell art. That is what they do. They produce art and encourage people to buy it. It's called running a business. plenty of examplesโฆ..

Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by robo on Dec 20, 2023 22:16:24 GMT 1, I think there are some important points here:
1. Itโs an artwork
2. It was on sale for money
3. People who wanted to buy it bought it; people who didnโt, didnโt
4. Itโs nice

Anish Kapoor ๐ฎ๐ณ Sculpture โข Exhibition News, by Georgie Poppit on Dec 20, 2023 23:03:15 GMT 1, I guess the main point is that no one has to buy anything at all. Iโm sure if AA get too much flack or donโt make as much money from timed editions theyโll just switch to limited editions. As well as people liking art on the wall the market is very much driven by speculation - it creates excitement as do good auction results. Iโm sure lots of people on here like buying something for ยฃ1000 thatโs then worth say ยฃ3k. Personally my New Yearโs resolution is to buy original art instead of editions where I can.

I remember when I decided to stop buying generic posters.com art and start buying editions instead. Funny how tastes/expectations change with time

Yes but: 1. It's not his best or even what he's known for 2. Too much money 3. They both weighed it up for what it was, multiple thousands chose not to 4. It's ok.

I got an email from AA asking why I did not buy it, so I told them.
