Ebay Advice, by Schrödinger's Chat on Jan 24, 2020 18:18:49 GMT 1, Apologies for creating a thread, I tried searching for an existing thread and failed to find one.
Does anyone know the process for returning an item to someone on ebay?
My understanding is:
Product doesn't match description buyer (me) requests return Seller accepts return - I am prompted to return item within a set period and presumably prompted to record a proof of postage (special delivery tracking) Seller receives product back and issues refund.
My concern is that the seller has not accepted my return formally but has written in a message saying, send it back and I'll return your money. What is to stop him receiving it back and not refunding the money?
Obviously I could send the tracking in an message, but I am trying to follow the formal process.
I'm usually very trusting but the tone of the sellers messages has put doubt in my mind.
Any help appreciated.

Ebay Advice, by irl1 on Jan 24, 2020 18:25:07 GMT 1, Don't ship back until he goes through the process or you could loose your funds. If the seller is a longterm user they should know this. Your covered by paypal anyway but go through the process first
Send them another message and ask them to accept the return, if they don't do this get onto ebay they will sort it

Ebay Advice, by ADC on Jan 24, 2020 19:11:30 GMT 1, Second that, the seller should respond to your returns request before you return 👍
I must add eBay are pretty good at sorting any problems you have, might take a little while but they always side with the buyer in situations like this.

Ebay Advice, by Masong on Jan 24, 2020 19:14:22 GMT 1, Definitely don’t send it. I’m pretty sure that if you request to return an item and they don’t except within the set amount of days in which you have to return the item, you can just contact eBay and they refund you the full amount anyway as the seller hasn’t fulfilled the request. I could be wrong.

Thanks, I'm the buyer though, so I want them to side with me

Ebay Advice, by Poster Bob on Jan 24, 2020 22:07:34 GMT 1, Politely ask him if you may initiate a return formally via Ebay. Then give him 24 hours to do it. If he doesn't respond, file a claim.

Ebay Advice, by Rouen Cathedral on Jan 26, 2020 14:01:48 GMT 1, I’m pretty sure eBay customer service can review all messages if it came down to it. If they sent in the eBay message to return it they would be able to see that.
As others mentioned it’s probably best to do the official route though.

I have a similar issue, Print Condition was not mint, actually far from it.
I opened a request via "Purchase history" and contaced seller to return the item. The seller denies it, and just closed my return.
I now though I would be able to bring eBay into the case after 3 working days, but a whole week have passed and I cannot find how to start a claim... Anyone?
could it be that I am too late? It have been more than 30 days since I received it. Didn't notice the issues straight away, but at the framers in bettee light condition a mot of cracks became visible. How to proceed?
I have also tried going via PayPal link where I did the transaction, but they just rwfer me directly to eBay resolution center, where I end up in "limbo" due to that the seller have closed my return and I am stuck...
Please help.

Pretty sure it’s up to 90 days. If you are on the web browser it should be under the item itself.
Take a lot of pictures as it will go in the claim process.

Ebay Advice, by John The Badgers on Jan 27, 2020 10:38:45 GMT 1, May sound a bit Old School Shagga, but is it worth calling eBay?
They can then offer you the best advice to resolve the issue, the procedure you need to follow etc. Your call will then be logged, and they will need to resolve.
Hope you get sorted.
