POW in the past have been more than friendly in helping with provenance for potential purchases I've made or attempted to make...
Also in the recent past..
I bought a print - off (you dont' need to guess..) ebay only to find it marked on the image itself... I was assured by the seller 'i bought it like that'...
I queried this with POW then sent them pictures (not the easiest thing to do.... when the colours of these prints are sometimes so stark you may taking a picture is not that easy at all.. ! ).
Anyway they helped .. advised - now I've got my money back...
So all in all - their IT might not help on occasion - but thier staff more that make up that for when you need them.
..feel free to add your stories people - I'm sure you have many !

There are ways to manage the selling of prints, and it doesn't involve rocket science knowledge, i can see that POW are trying to fix the problems, but maybe some sort of email lottery would be a better way ... or just select 500 people on their email list ..ask them if they want a copy ..if not move onto the next person on the list ...etc etc .. just my thought and not necessarily the way forward

i think there is a slight flaw in your plan.
That would mean the 1st 150 people called would all get signed copies and no one else would even be offered them. (who in there right mind is going to say "no thanks i dont want a signed Banksy today")?
Dont think thats very fair as who decides on the people to call.
If its not a lottery i would rather fight the on line ordering system at POW.

If its a lottery everyone at least has a fair chance but with what your suggesting its pot luck and open to abuse. You cant just pick 150 random people to get a signed print.
The website is as fair as any way and i would rather take my chance on the shonky website then what you are suggesting, even the lottery is better than that.
i actually like the bun fight and i think it makes it half the fun, i you want some thing fight for it. Dont expect it to land in your lap just cos you want one. ;D

It must have been chaotic in there at the time, so I at least appreciate somebody taking the time whilst under pressure to explain to me what was going on. There now that I've done that can I have one of those prints that are currently lodged under/behind the sofa and I really will make the tea and clean the office for a year...Honest. ;D

I've had nothing but stellar service from POW, and am thoroughly impressed by the types of initiatives this small business has undertaken--Such as, recording the names of folks who buy prints/the number which they buy, and then providing that information free of charge and without hassle to secondary buyers as due-diligence/provenance. They have also upgraded their website, and considering the load on their servers, it does not surprise me that they crash. But its a small company, certainly no Amazon.dom, and I wouldn't expect them to invest too heavily in IT. They're an art-house for god's sake!
And this initiative on their part to help curb the practice of flipping. Despite my own misgivings about this being a fruitless endeavor, they are doing so--in part, at least--in response to all the complaints that are vocalized by members of this forum and of their other customers. Its a daunting challenge that falls well beyond the scope/purvey of any ordinary business, and one that does not provide them with additional rewards. I am reminded of the past several years when several gaming systems were released by enormous companies--Microsoft, Sony & Nintendo. Their machines were selling for 4-5 times the retail price for several months after release, yet these big companies did nothing to try and curb the practice (although it would be much more feasable for companies of that size to succeed than for a small company like POW)---in fact, it was rumored that they intentionally delivered short orders to artificially fuel the flames and generate additional headlines. So POW's software may still have some bugs. Big deal. I think its great they're responding to the complaints at all. New initiatives take time, particularly when complex issues are being addressed.
All in all, I think POW are doing an outstanding job. Banksy is a rock-god in the art world (if there is such a thing), and POW are a small indie label doing their best to keep up with his surprisingly massive popularity.

So to get this straight you've got to spend hours refreshing, then when you get it in your basket you can't pay for it so you start again, get it in your basket again, can't pay for it etc. You do this 3,4, or even 5 times, then you're required to be glued to the computer for the next 30 or so hours with no sleep in case one comes up and you can do it all over again.

Maybe you're right, I've been though this twice before with Grannies and Applause, and I got lucky for both of those, so fair enough, time to loose out. Better luck I hope for Trolley Hunters as that is my favourite.
