I look at gold differently, more so as an investment and if I'm going to buy jewelry it needs to be 24K. Yes it is soft. Most of the time there is no issue and a little wear on a nice gold ring is not bad, character. If the chain is forged into the heart it would work fine for this piece in 24K.
