I would have recommended 'Have you seen the listers?' if you had asked a couple of weeks ago, not so much now. 'Shadowman' is a good one about Richard Hambleton and definitely worth a watch.

You can stream it somewhere. But I have no clue how that works. Most certainly worth it.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by mw on Mar 23, 2020 17:55:36 GMT 1, Absolutely. Number of cases means nothing, can't compare country to country at all. Testing regimes are so different. Number of deaths is alot more relevant. In the developed countries outcomes should be roughly similar. Germany has a death rate of roughly 0.4%. So if you multiply all deaths by 250, you could in theory compare counties. This doesn't, however, take account for different age groups being affected in different countries. Also there may be lots of people who have been counted in the "tested positive" group who have yet to appear in the deaths group. Do hope people start 'getting it'. Time for everyone to behave as if they have it and act accordingly. Right in what you say , the only way to have complete comparison is blanket testing of a population which is impossible , the current situation has too many variables the world now four months of a pandemic should have enough data about infections to devise a model all countries can use in sync , every country is doing something different , and once steadied if borders open again could Be re infected from another country. Just saw saw a cruise ship advert last night, after this fiasco , can't see many people wanting to take a cruise holiday again Once the antibody test is live and in mass production, don't see why the whole population can't be tested. I think it will be necessary in order to formulate a response when the next wave comes. If they know that 70% of the population is immune then the response doesn't need to be so severe, but if it's 20% then they will crack down again. Obviously could take quite a while.

Because his partners sisters boyfriend heard from his dads brother who works at some government facility where they all sign secrecy documentation but didn’t mind sharing top secret stuff as it’s his brother who he was sure wouldn’t share with anyone let alone his son who definitely wouldn’t then pass to his partner who would then pass to her sister to share with her partner who would go on to stick it all over an art forum for all to see 😜

I still don't know why we couldn't have stopped all flights returning from China as soon as knew, until it was contained. Yes, it would have caused a lot of upset people and some economic problems,but those problems would look very minor now.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by embee on Mar 23, 2020 19:37:09 GMT 1, Lockdown news imminent by the looks of it. Bout bloody time Boris! The 8.30 address to the nation vs late afternoon daily briefing would suggest that. Still, I think he'll take another step in between first;
- All but non essential retail must close (leaving just things like supermarkets, pharmacies etc) - All but non essential workers must stay home (list of essential jobs declared)
Probably some other things, but basically first trying everything to limit the reasons for people to be out and about. Give that a few days and see how it goes before saying right, you muppets, you want Spain-level restrictions? Here's yer Spain-level restrictions.
He seems genuinely (and ideologically) against the harshest lockdowns seen elsewhere (rightly or wrongly), and Nicola Sturgeon was out this afternoon still confidently saying that yes, people should and could still go outside for fresh air and exercise, and she's a part of all of these briefings and decisions. The decision might have been made after her presser, but she seemed pretty confident. Having said that, she was speaking to Scotland and this could all very well just be a London-centric thing.

Us British folk need military on the streets for us to realise that this is serious

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by irl1 on Mar 23, 2020 20:39:25 GMT 1, Lockdown news imminent by the looks of it. Bout bloody time Boris! Our man Leo Varadkar on the news tonight..........
I see you all playing in the sun over the weekend if you do this again ill send you to the naughty corner
Oh man no telling these fools to lockdown.
Look at the Spanish flu with no modern transport at the time, yet it spread like wildfire and lasted nearly 3 years.
The Spanish flu, also known as the 1918 flu pandemic, was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic. Lasting from January 1918 to December 1920, it infected 500 million people—about a quarter of the world's population at the time. The death toll is estimated to have been anywhere from 17 million to 50 million, and possibly as high as 100 million, making it one of the deadliest epidemics in human history.

Have you seen how many cases there are in New York? 21k active cases, going up by 5k each day. I haven't been on here much recently but anyone from the US able to give an insight of the situation over there? It is not good in New York. We are in lockdown - everything is closed except Banks, Grocery Stores, Liquor Stores, Restaurants For Take Out & Delivery, Pharmacies. You are not allowed to gather in groups of more than 2 unrelated people. The Supermarkets have a limit of 2 items per category - like 2 Loafs of Bread or Two Cases of Water per product. Most people are listening to the authorities - there is an issue with some religious groups that are continuing to have large gatherings for weddings and are still sending their kids to private schools. The estimates are that 30% of the US Workforce will lose their job from March 15th - April 15th. More than 2 million people have lost their jobs in the past 10 days. The National Guard has been called in California, New York & Illinois which is scary in every movie you watch about pandemics.

Thanks Wearology, be safe.
I just can't see how the hospitals in London will cope with the number of cases that are going to come over the next few weeks. The footage of a hospital in Madrid was really awful, corridors full of coughing/wheezing patients, not enough beds etc.
On a vaguely positive note, the numbers of new cases in Italy appear to have come down slightly in the last couple of days. Let's hope they are through the worst.
