Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by LJCal on Mar 23, 2020 22:03:35 GMT 1, Is no one in the least bit concerned that the most irresponsible government in living memory now has powers to pretty much detain you with little or no cause, restrict your movement, break up groups of more than two people and make up laws pretty much on the spot. Sure itโll be fine though and they wonโt for one minute abuse these powers.

Either that or we can let the specials keep popping out for fish and chips because the suns out but letโs not worry about everyone else. If people just acted responsibly in the first instance wouldnโt need to have happened

Not that i'm for them having martial law, but something needs to be done at least on state levels here in the US to keep people from going out. Almost everyone I know still pops over friends and family houses, drive and walk on the beaches, parks, ect. Without full cooperation outside of essential services this won't resolve without something drastic.

No, one might say it seems like a global approach, probably the biggest and largely uncontested power grab from people to state in history, sure itโll be fine though.

I hope these measures bring results and then very soon after governments move to give back all of our liberties. Just been going through the bill that passed here today and there is at least provision that parliament must review the powers granted every 6 months.

Look at the positives, it's like a stricter version of the 1994 criminal justice act, but in your gathering of two people, you can listen to repetitive beats as much as you please๐

No driving round the M25 calling a random number then getting lost down country lanes.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Terry Fuckwitt on Mar 23, 2020 23:11:30 GMT 1, Itโs nothing all of us who arenโt fรผcking imbeciles had already chosen to do ourselves days or weeks ago. Classic Boris Johnson: waits to see where everyoneโs going and what theyโre doing, then jumps to the front shouting โfollow me!โ And what exactly happens to the 300,000 or so homeless in the UK?
Empty hotels have been taken over by the military already for hospitals and supposedly offered to the homeless. I think some of the homeless in London have already been offered this, but don't know about the other towns and cities.

Classic Boris Johnson: waits to see where everyoneโs going and what theyโre doing, then jumps to the front shouting โfollow me!โ Yeah, it's how I've been living for about 10 days now. I pop a podcast in and go out for a walk around the quiet backstreets for about 45 mins each day, not getting anywhere near anyone. I quickly go to the supermarket every few days for the perishable stuff. Otherwise, I'm just inside staring at spreadsheets with Storage Wars on in the background.
I'm not comfortable with the temporary current level of power the state has, but it's basically to keep some human bioweapons with their guidance systems turned to stupid from potentially killing thousands of people. Which... well, fine.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by moron on Mar 23, 2020 23:47:06 GMT 1, Boris doing what Italy, Spain and France had to do.
The doctors and nurses medical staff are on the front line and so will be the police having to enforce this lockdown and deal with people who ignore it. The police will not be happy if they do not have the right equipment masks etc.
Night time curfew coming soon in UK too.
No doubt there will be some who ignore it and some who decide to go out looting.
It's amazing that countries like UK etc have the means to build arms jet fighters, nuclear subs etc etc and yet do not have the ability to produce enough face masks and basic things to protect people.
Middle men and profit is the be all and end all of the UK economy. Closing factories and buying cheap imported stuff has left countries vulnerable in some ways.

We mostly assemble the fighter jets, a lot of the techie bits come from Europe and US (with some obvious exceptions like Rolls Royce who make the engines). My point being, i dont even think we have the facilities to make big stuff like that anymore without input from foreign supply chains.

I don't recall any anti Chinese jokes. This epidemic is not something to make jokes about.
So lets say that instead of Italy. The big outbreak was in Africa. Would Ai WeiWei make a similar joke about Africans?
Apart from that Weiwei has burned himself in Italy. Italians are not happy and have long memories.

I think some of the homeless in London have already been offered this, but don't know about the other towns and cities. 300, allegedly. Only 270,000 to go.
I don't know of the figures, but I would hope from tomorrow more will be offered accommodation. I would say maybe only half of homeless would take it anyway. It does leave a huge problem with those left on the street lacking money and food contributions. Soup kitchens have closed already and not sure if all volunteers can carry on, sad times...

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by LJCal on Mar 24, 2020 1:00:47 GMT 1, Better hope they find a cure for all infectious diseases then or expect these powers to be broken out whenever it suits them. In law now , do they only need activating if only infectious diseases?new power to detain if can not find another law to detain you Previously they still required probable cause and can only hold you for 24 hours without charge except in exceptional circumstances. Now they can hold you if they feel you display symptoms and require you to undergo tests and detain you for up to 14 days, this is fucked in my view.

Che essere miserabile che sei.
